I’d love to see improved support in n8n's HTTP Request node for handling custom error responses returned by APIs, especially for self-hosted services or APIs that return rich JSON error payloads on non-2xx responses Atm I am enabling “Never Error” + “Include Response Headers and Status” which correctly outputs the full response body, headers, and status But this forces all error-handling logic into the success branch, requiring a Normalizing results/output code node and manual IF / Switch checks on status codes.

Truth is that you cant just low-code/no-code/vibe-code your way to this bread, im afraid

COD almost killed my margins. I was a one-man operation back then; not tech-savvy, juggling support, packing, ads, and everything in between. Unconfirmed orders, wrong sizes, ghost customers… every small mistake turned into another return I had to absorb. Retail doesn’t forgive. Fast forward: a WooCommerce merchant came to me with the exact same problem. So I built him an automation to fix it. Now I’m refactoring it so others can use it too.
