🚨BREAKING: US seizes bank accounts tied to a Tether-linked payments firm, FT reports. The firm, Capstone, is accused by the DOJ of illegally moving hundreds of millions of dollars for Tether and Bitfinex through EQIBank, a small Caribbean bank. Capstone allegedly opened US bank accounts while presenting itself as a tech company, then used those accounts to send payments to hundreds of individuals and entities. About $84 MILLION has now been frozen from Capstone accounts at Wells Fargo and JPMorgan. FT reports Capstone was also linked to a separate case where stolen cash from elderly victims was allegedly converted into USDT. Tether and Bitfinex said they were EQIBank customers, but had no knowledge of Capstone’s alleged misconduct. This highlights Tether’s banking access problem, relying on smaller offshore banks and payment middlemen to reach the dollar system.

You’re BROKE for a reason. And it’s NOT because you bought a new phone, ordered takeout, or forgot to grind harder. The price of money basically just went UP. Reason is BOND YIELDs. Yeah, sounds boring... so here’s the SIMPLE version: A "bond yield" is basically the return investors demand to lend money to the government. Simple example: If the govt wants to borrow money, investors can say, “Sure, but pay me more because inflation is high, debt is huge, and the future looks messy.” That “pay me more” is the bond yield going up. And because govt debt is seen as the safest loan in the economy, it becomes the starting point for almost every other loan. So if the “safe” borrower now has to pay 5%, your bank is not giving you a mortgage at 3%. They’ll also charge you MORE. Mortgages rise. Car loans rise. Credit card rates rise. Landlords push rents higher. Companies raise prices, slow hiring, or cut pay. That's how a boring bond chart turns into your wallet. Now you ask, "WHY are yields going up?" Because govts borrowed TOO MUCH. They kept borrowing again, and again, and AGAIN. Now investors are asking, “Are you actually good for this?” So they demand a higher return before lending more. That higher return is the YIELD GOING UP. So when money gets expensive, everything built on borrowed money gets expensive too. So NO, don’t blame yourself why you're BROKE. Blame the GOVERNMENT. Blame the SYSTEM. Blame the DEBT cycle. They borrowed from the future. Turns out, you were the future.

🚨BREAKING: KelpDAO sues LayerZero and its CEO over the $292 MILLION rsETH bridge exploit. The dispute centers on whether LayerZero endorsed the single-verifier configuration that KelpDAO says left the bridge exposed. LayerZero CEO Pellegrino calls the claims “meritless” and vows to fight them in Vancouver courts. KelpDAO says it is migrating to a safer bridge to protect users. The battle over responsibility for the $292 million exploit is now heading to court.

🇺🇸UPDATE: White House denies a 90-day diesel export ban, just a day after Trump called for a ban. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has instead contacted executives at several major refiners to gauge support for voluntary export cuts, per Reuters. "The blunt tool of banning diesel exports definitely doesn't work," Wright said, warning a ban would push gasoline and jet fuel prices higher. Trump's comments reportedly surprised senior officials, with diesel averaging $6.52 a gallon.
🚨BREAKING: Trump administration is preparing a 90-day ban on U.S. diesel exports, with an announcement possible by the end of the week, per Politico. U.S. diesel prices have climbed above $6.50 per gallon as fuel costs intensify pressure ahead of the midterms. Energy Secretary Chris Wright reportedly told energy CEOs a ban was coming, prompting immediate pushback to the White House. Restrictions could cut refinery runs by roughly 2 MILLION barrels per day and gasoline output by up to 750,000 barrels per day, according to WSJ. A ban intended to lower diesel prices could backfire by reducing refinery output and driving gasoline and jet-fuel prices higher.

🇺🇸UPDATE: CFTC now lets US brokers invest customer funds in TOKENIZED assets and keep records on-chain. CFTC staff updated their crypto FAQs today, adding four new answers and revising one: Tokenized investments: Brokers and clearinghouses can invest customer funds in tokenized versions of approved investments, if the tokens carry the same legal rights. Tokenized government money market funds are included, with a custodian's written acknowledgment. Swap dealers can now use tokenized money market fund shares as margin for uncleared swaps. On-chain records: Brokers, exchanges and clearinghouses can use blockchains to meet recordkeeping rules. Firms can keep records only on-chain, with no off-chain copy required. Firms on public blockchains must still be able to produce records if the network goes down. What's unchanged: Crypto, including stablecoins, still can't be used as margin for uncleared swaps. The questions came from dYdX, the Blockchain Association and the Solana Policy Institute. It comes two days after Chairman Mike Selig said US markets must prepare for "mass tokenization."

🇺🇸BREAKING: The Fed has proposed its GENIUS Act rules, requiring stablecoins it oversees to be fully backed by Treasury bills and other high-quality assets. Proposal one: - Stablecoins must be fully backed by permissible reserves, such as short-term Treasury bills and other high-quality, liquid assets. - Issuers face standardized capital requirements covering credit and operational risks, plus risk management standards. - New rules cover firms that safekeep stablecoin reserves, and clarify which stablecoin activities Fed-supervised banks can carry out. Proposal two: - Fed-supervised banks applying to issue stablecoins must submit a business plan and financial information. - The proposal also sets a process for appeals, hearings and final decisions on applications. "Stablecoins will only be stable if they can be reliably and promptly redeemed at par in a range of conditions," says Fed Governor Michael Barr. The comment period closes 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

🇺🇸🇮🇷BREAKING: The US and Iran are reportedly discussing a phased deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The first step would see Iran reopen Hormuz in exchange for Washington lifting its economic blockade, potentially alongside access to frozen Iranian assets, per Reuters. Iran has also reportedly presented a road map with a regionwide ceasefire of up to 60 days, and is willing to move its demand for Hormuz transit fees into a side agreement. But neither side wants to give up its leverage first, and a senior Iranian official warned, "Our fingers are on the trigger." It comes hours after Brent jumped above $106 when a top Iranian military official threatened to widen the war to the Indian Ocean if attacked.
