Instead of transferring the entire investment through traditional paperwork every time ownership changes, the issuer could structure the asset so that: 🏢 Building → held by a legal company/SPV ⚖️ Ownership rights → legally defined ⛓️ Digital tokens → created on blockchain 🪙 100,000 tokens → could represent defined interests in that structure 👥 Eligible investors → receive tokens 💰 Income/redemptions → handled according to the legal agreement But here is the important part: Creating 100,000 tokens does NOT automatically give those tokens ownership of a $1M building. The legal documentation must connect the blockchain token to enforceable rights in the real-world asset. That distinction is everything. __________________________ 🛠️ HOW WOULD SOMEONE TOKENIZE A REAL ASSET? 1️⃣ Define the asset Decide exactly what is being represented: equity, debt, a fund interest, property income, commodities, membership rights, etc. 2️⃣ Build the legal structure Determine who legally owns the underlying asset and exactly what rights token holders receive. 3️⃣ Decide the token model For example: direct/native ownership representation or a token representing an interest in something held by another entity. 4️⃣ Add identity + compliance Regulated assets may require KYC/AML, investor eligibility, transfer restrictions, allowlists, freezes, or other controls. 5️⃣ Choose the blockchain Solana's Token-2022 infrastructure includes features such as transfer controls, pausability, permanent delegates and other extensions useful for institutional tokenization. 6️⃣ Issue the tokens The issuer creates the blockchain asset and mints the appropriate supply. 7️⃣ Connect the real world Custody records, asset valuations, NAV, audits, payments and legal records need to remain synchronized with the onchain representation. 8️⃣ Build redemption + settlement A serious tokenized asset needs a clear answer to: ➡️ What does this token legally represent? ➡️ Who holds the underlying asset? ➡️ Can I redeem it? ➡️ What happens if the issuer fails? ➡️ Who can trade it? ➡️ How is ownership verified? ⚠️ TOKENIZATION ≠ MAGIC Putting something on a blockchain does not remove securities laws or automatically create legal ownership.
