This is a decent enough summary of the basic, traditional, standard, and oft repeated counterpoints by the aforementioned dedicated opposition over age-old questions that have split Buddhism for millennia and are not likely to be resolved soon to my preferred epistemic standards as the opposition so far has not produced candidates who they believe have met their particular standards to be available to be subject to rigorous, controlled study of their claims despite numerous public requests for them to do so, which itself may be telling of something, and probably beyond just the standard defense, “Oh, those with attainments would never reveal their attainments.” My favorite book that provides a relevant meta-point to this general collision of religion and science is found as the primary thesis of My Years of Magical Thinking, by “Lionel Snell”.
