Extraordinary. But typical of a large swathe of the Israeli political establishment. Israel could have - at any time - allowed for temporary refuge in the southern Galilee (which it is arguably obliged to do as the occupying power), and it has multiple access points to do that. But easier to insist Egypt become complicit in ethnic cleansing instead
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: Today Gaza has become the largest prison in the world. This happened because of the hypocrisy of Egypt.

A tenant farmer in the Cairngorms says land that sold for £500 an acre a few years ago now goes for £5,000. He is being moved off ground his family has worked for generations, because he cannot outbid the people buying it. The buyers are corporations, and they have no intention of farming a single acre of it. Here is how the trick works. A company keeps emitting carbon exactly as before. Same factories, same flights, same supply chain, same product. Then it buys a Scottish hillside, plants some trees, and announces to the world that it is now carbon neutral, or, if it is feeling brave, carbon negative. The emissions never fell. It simply bought a landscape to point at. Take BrewDog. In 2020 it bought a 9,300-acre Highland estate, propped up with public grant money, and promised a million trees and the crown of the world's first carbon negative beer business, removing twice the carbon it emitted, forever. By 2023 roughly half of the 500,000 trees it had managed to plant were dead, killed by drought, with critics noting the planting was drying out the peat and releasing carbon of its own. The advertising regulator ruled its carbon-negative claims misleading. In 2024 it quietly dropped the badge and dismissed the entire carbon credit market as a flood of cheap schemes whose benefit was "questionable, maybe even non-existent." Then it sold the estate to a firm whose actual business is selling carbon offsets. That is the whole model in one story. Public money in. Dead trees out. A green halo worn for four years and then dropped. The farmer who used to be on that land, gone. The hillside passed to a company that exists purely to sell other people the right to keep polluting. This is no fringe case. In one recent year, half of every estate sold in Scotland went to investment funds, corporations and charitable trusts rather than anyone who would farm it. A third of the deals for plantable land are now done off-market, in secret, precisely so the local community never gets the chance to bid. So this is what net zero looks like on the ground. A man who produced food is priced out of his own glen. A corporation that produced emissions buys the glen, calls itself a force for good, and sells the carbon. The land stops feeding anyone. Nobody's emissions actually went down by a gram. The food was real. The farmer was real. The carbon saving is a line in a slide deck. And we have somehow decided the villain in all this is the man with the sheep.

Every soldier and settler could have gone home like this within days or weeks, but the Zionist genocide colony preferred to exterminate Palestinians than to bring its own people home alive.
Elderly Israeli Yocheved Lifshitz turns around, shakes the hand of a Palestinian Qassam Brigades soldier and says "Shalom" as she is transferred to the Red Cross. The resistance are keeping their promise to safely return home all detained noncombtants, as conditions allow.

Three years on from the hideous tragedy of 7/10, with its brutal aftermath still ongoing, accelerating the spiral of violence and radicalisation, the need to find a peaceful and just solution to the hatreds dividing the region has never been greater
I am a life-long supporter of the Palestinian search for freedom and statehood , but this morning am feeling only utter revulsion, horror and depression at the press descriptions of yet more innocents massacred. No one, least of all children, should ever have to endure violence and fear, and the kind of atrocity carried out by Hamas is only going to intensify the ongoing oppression, dispossession and occupation, as well as provoking retaliatory waves of bombings and killings which are already leading to the deaths of countless more innocent children. Hamas has not only committed a barbaric outrage with its abominable ISIS-like tactics, I fear it has also done incalculable and lasting damage to the just cause of their own people, entrenched the hawks and haters and ethnic cleansers, and made the search for peace, justice and freedom more difficult than ever.

🇮🇱🇵🇸 An Israeli captive describes how Hamas fighters treated her while she was held captive: "I told them in English, 'I have two children here.'" "One of them replied in English, 'Don't worry, I am Muslim, we will not hurt you.'" "One of the armed men asked on seeing bananas on the counter, 'Can I eat one?' and I said yes." "The men stayed in the house for about two hours, and before leaving, one of them closed the safe room door."

I will keep working with people from all corners of the political spectrum to campaign for safe homeless accommodation for women and children. I won't be silent to avoid offending people who defend genocide. If I lose support so be it. Better than losing my soul. Free Palestine.

"I don’t know how Israel could have sat on Hamas’s 40-page battle plan for over a year -- and still called October 7 an unforeseeable surprise. "I don’t know why IOF border surveillance operators who repeatedly raised red flags about Hamas training for an attack were ignored -- and in some cases threatened with court-martial. "I don’t know why Netanyahu never briefed Israel's security chiefs about the explicit warnings he got from both the UAE and Egypt about a major Hamas operation before October 7. "I don’t know why we were told Hamas targeted Nova -- when Israeli investigations concluded that Hamas had no prior intelligence about the festival and had not planned to attack it . . . Lebanon.
The Israelis have for the third year in a row imposed strict conditions on residents of border villages who wish to harvest their own olives or perform any type of agricultural work. Farmers must obtain prior approval and submit their full name, the exact location of their land, the nature of the work, the number of workers, a contact number, and even a photo of any vehicle that will be present. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, 6,600 hectares of olive-producing areas have been partially or completely destroyed by Israeli aggression, which includes the use of white phosphorus, bulldozing trees and uprooting and stealing them. Recently we sat down with the mayor of Kfarshouba, who told us about the arduous process to obtain the proper permits to farm his own land. Israel has reportedly proposed partitioning the land and splitting up into sections, much like the West Bank model. Cameraman: @aliezzeddine00

Years before October 7, 2023, Chuck Schumer called on Israel to “strangle Gaza” because Palestinians “don't believe in the Torah, in David." That’s what Israel did, and why Oct 7 happened
Today we mark 3 years since Hamas’s horrific October 7th terrorist attack on Israel, the single deadliest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust. The brutality of the October 7th attacks that killed over 1,200 people, including 48 Americans, and took hostage over 250, will be seared into our memories forever. I visited Israel on October 10th and met with hostage families; I felt their pain, anguish, and fear—it’s a feeling I will never forget. We must all never forget.  On this solemn anniversary, my prayers are with those killed in Hamas’s attacks, the hostages who came home through painstaking negotiations, and the hostages who were killed in captivity and whose bodies were brutally held for over 2 years, including my constituents Omer Neutra and Itay Chen.  Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the security of the Israeli people, to the aid and wellbeing of the Palestinian people and the recovery of the devastation in Gaza that the ensuing conflict brought, and to doubling down on efforts for a lasting peace resulting in two states where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in equal measures of peace, security, dignity, and mutual recognition.

I guess this is what happens when AIPAC-AI writes your talking points without any human in the chain to check for basic humanity. David Valadao (R-CA-22) literally says that military aid to Israel helps the US because the money goes to the production and TESTING of American weapons systems. "The fact that those weapons are used there and tested there, we are able to learn from that." He goes on to describe it as an "opportunity" to test weapons and learn from it. We knew AI was steering Israel's genocide in Gaza. It appears it is also steering its political strategy in the US...

🚨Israel's list of October 7 civilian casualties includes at least 48 armed members of Kitat Konenut (rapid response security squads) Israel lists them as civilians despite multiple being killed in combat, like Sergeant Major (Res.) Tal Haimi, Master Sergeant (Res.) Tamir Adar, both of whom were armed & fighting when killed. Israel's official list says they were "murdered in their homes," & omits their military reserve ranks. Obituaries in Israeli media show they "fell in battle" & were actively engaged in combat. Under International law, members of those local rapid response squads could be considered civilians as long as they are outside chains of control & command & don't engage in hostilities. They become combatants as soon as they take up weapons, stand guard under military command, or engage in active combat. Israel's gov is still listing individuals who took up arms & egnaged in combat as civilians, the very thing they accuse Hamas of doing.

I’m a doctor who has taken care of a terminally ill teenager & cancer in a 2 yr old in the past week. I’ve held a Gazan baby as she took her last breaths while I cleaned blood from her hair. Please, Mr. McGurk, tell me more about your “sense of tortured indecision” on Gaza.

It is insane how reactionary Jews believe they are Gods, capable of deciding who is & isn’t a ‘real Jew’ based only on their uncritical support for Israel. Bad news: radical politics & antiZionism have been an integral part of Judaism for centuries. Radical Jews perpetuate the spirit & politics of Einstein, Arendt, Slovo, Goldman, Levi, Butler, etc. etc.
Naftali Bennett has branded one of the most influential Haredi rabbis in Israel, Dov Lando, as “antisemitic” What did Rabbi Lando say to earn this label? Lando proclaimed: “It’s possible, without a state [of Israel], to live well with the Arabs… to live, to respect the Arabs. It was pretty good when the Arabs were in charge. It was the best situation.” He added that the Zionists “made Arabs hate us.“ Lando went on to call for a peace deal with the Palestinians, and slammed Zionism for having “brought the physical disasters, not just the spiritual ones, to the Jewish people.” For these clear-eyed statements, Lando has become a public enemy denounced by politicians across the Zionist spectrum. The lesson is clear: even a senior rabbi is one of The Antisemites if he refuses to bow before the state of Israel and its genocidal army.

The origin of the Orange order and the invasion of William of Orange. William landed in England with an invasion force of 15,000. The Claim of Right was produced by the largest Convention of Estates yet assembled and under threat of invasion produced a document which both included William’s stipulations, hence the same language as on the English Bill of Rights but with a critical difference. It affirmed the constitution and civil rights of Scotland and required William’s oath to uphold these as a condition of the Scottish throne. It still is. facebook.com/share/v/19Ff5F6…
