I don’t think people realize just how pro-Russia the AfD actually is, so here’s a non-comprehensive list: - The AfD has consistently opposed sanctions against Russia and German military aid to Ukraine. - AfD politicians have blamed the US and NATO for Russia’s invasion, with party leader Tino Chrupalla claiming that the US “provoked Russia.” - In 2022, five AfD politicians planned a trip to Russian-occupied Donetsk and Luhansk. The trip was cancelled after public outrage. - AfD politician Steffen Kotré appeared on Vladimir Solovyov’s Kremlin propaganda show, arguing against German military aid to Ukraine. - AfD politicians participated alongside Sahra Wagenknecht’s movement in “anti-war” protests calling for an end to sanctions, an end to military aid to Ukraine and restored relations with Russia. Leaked documents later revealed that building such an “anti-war coalition” in Germany was one of the Kremlin’s goals. - Russian documents described AfD politician Markus Frohnmaier as an “absolutely controlled MP” and discussed providing him with “material and media support.” - A joint investigation by The Insider and Der Spiegel revealed that AfD parliamentary aide Vladimir Sergienko worked with an FSB officer to try to stop or delay German weapons deliveries to Ukraine. Sergienko also funneled Russian money and instructions to AfD politicians for a lawsuit against the German government over weapons deliveries to Ukraine. - AfD politicians have repeatedly travelled to Russia, including trips to Moscow and Kaliningrad. - Hans-Thomas Tillschneider declared after Russia’s full-scale invasion that “Russia is defending itself!” - Tillschneider has written columns for the Russian newspaper Vedomosti, attended conferences in Moscow, congratulated Putin on his sham 2024 election victory and celebrated Putin’s birthday at the Russian Embassy in Berlin. - Tillschneider also helped shape the AfD’s 2026 Saxony-Anhalt programme, which calls for ending sanctions against Russia, restoring Nord Stream, expanding Russian-language teaching in German schools and reviving student exchanges with Russia. - AfD politician Tim Schramm volunteered to fight for Ukraine against Russia. The AfD’s NRW leadership responded by launching proceedings to expel him from the party. - AfD politician Jörg Dornau co-owns an agricultural company in Belarus that used prisoners, particularly political prisoners, as forced labor. The EU later sanctioned the company over its use of forced labor. - Chechnya-born AfD member Noah Krieger, originally named Murad Dadaev, travelled to Chechnya, attended parliament with Ramzan Kadyrov, met regime figures and took part in Kalashnikov training. Months later, he appeared in Russian-occupied Ukraine alongside Chechen Akhmat fighters, carrying a weapon and declaring: “I am in Ukraine and stand for Russia.”

In April 2022, a 12-year-old Russian girl named Masha Moskalyova was told in art class to draw a picture supporting russian troops in Ukraine. Instead, she drew a Ukrainian mother protecting her child as russian missiles flew toward them. On the Ukrainian flag she wrote, “Glory to Ukraine.” On the russian flag: “No to war. No to Putin.” Her school reported her to the authorities. Police began investigating her father, Alexei Moskalyov, a single father who had raised Masha largely on his own. They searched his social media and discovered posts criticizing russia’s invasion and documenting russian atrocities in Bucha. In December 2022, around a dozen russian security officers raided their home. They ransacked it, seized their computers, phones, and savings. Alexei later said that during interrogations, officers beat him and slammed his head against the wall and floor. They blasted the russian national anthem at full volume while questioning him. Eventually, the regime charged him with repeatedly “discrediting” the russian military because of his anti-war social-media posts. Masha was taken away from him and placed in a state “social rehabilitation” center. Alexei was sentenced to two years in a penal colony. He later described horrific conditions there: a tiny punishment cell roughly two meters long, freezing temperatures, rats crawling out of the sewer, and days when he was forced to stand for as long as 16 hours because the bunk was locked against the wall. Meanwhile, his daughter wrote to him. “Dad, don’t give up.” “You are my hero.” They were separated for more than a year and a half. On October 15, 2024, Alexei finally walked out of prison. Masha was waiting for him. Five days later, they fled russia. They first escaped to Armenia and applied for a German humanitarian visa. After waiting for more than a year, their case stalled when Germany suspended the relevant humanitarian admission program. Then France stepped in. In March 2026, Masha and Alexei received French humanitarian visas and flew to Paris. And on July 17, 2026, France granted them political asylum. Today, Masha is drawing again and hopes to pursue art. She also writes and has spoken out in support of russian political prisoners. When asked whether, knowing everything that happened afterward, she would still have made that drawing, Masha said she would. “One only lives once.” One drawing. A child saying no to war. Das „Russische Haus“ in Berlin ist kein harmloses Kulturzentrum, sondern ein Knotenpunkt für Desinformation, der dringend geschlossen werden muss. Die Einrichtung wird von der Organisation „Rossotrudnitschestwo“ betrieben, die von der Europäischen Union und von Deutschland wegen des Krieges längst sanktioniert ist. 😢💔🇩🇰A Dutch volunteer delivering aid to Ukraine died on a train en route to Kyiv. Andrees Hofstra, a 45-year-old Dutchman, dedicated the last years of his life to supporting Ukraine. His life was tragically cut short on the way to #Kyiv while he and his girlfriend were transporting another shipment of humanitarian aid. According to his family, there was no premonition of disaster – he suddenly lost consciousness on the train and never regained consciousness. Before the full-scale invasion, Hofstra had no direct connection to Ukraine, but after the war began, he immersed himself in volunteer work. He collected necessary supplies, organized logistics, and personally escorted the shipments. He was also an active member of the organization Zeilen van Vrijheid, which supplies ambulances and medical equipment to #Ukraine. The #NAFO volunteer community called him one of the first Dutchmen to systematically support Ukraine – both digitally and through real-life actions. August ließ sich laut Moscow Times nur an 28,1 Prozent der russischen Tankstellen noch Benzin oder Diesel kaufen, eine Woche zuvor waren es 41 Prozent.
