The part the numbers don't show: she played 12 snippets, showed off her first signed vinyl, and replied to fans by name. 47% of the room sent a message or reacted. The final 5 minutes were the second-busiest of the hour. Nobody wanted it to end
I think well see a shift in album previews from going one direction to more of a conversation (like concerts!)

concerts are the blueprint. the artist feeds off the crowd, and everyone leaves feeling closer. that’s why the merch table beats the website
no one has nailed the online version of this yet and why we went all in on the live group chats for @vaultdotfm
truly believe anti marketing will become a thing soon… still marketing but it’s just a different approach, more intimate, personal, private, one on one. less about the projection of scale. i’m into it xx

I didn’t get everything right building Sound but the biggest lesson was that the community formed along the way was what was responsible for much of the success of songs se. the Twitter Spaces, the group chats, the friendships.

and why not just run it on whatsapp or discord?
because those rooms never end. a chat that's always on becomes a 24/7 job for the artist and background noise for fans
vault chats are live events. no app, no signup, just show up while it's happening. when the moment's over, the chat ends
like a concert. except this time the artist keeps the guest list, and texting everyone into the next one is free
