Why would Michael Olise downgrade?

Imagine the mental gymnastics one must do to downplay goals in a sport that is literally defined by them 🤣 Any club out there, including Barcelona, wish that they had a striker who could hit 60+ goals in a season.

Harry Kane has been the best player in the world since the beginning of 2025/2026 season. In the 74 matches he has played since August 3, 2025, he has 85 goals and 11 assists. If he doesn't lift the Ballom d'Or, just scrap the award. Side Note - Lamine Yamal stans are awfully quiet today. I wonder why...

I've seen Real Madrid fans say that if Olise wants to win the Ballon d'Or, he needs to make the switch to the Bernabéau. He'll never even be considered so long as Kylian Mbappe is part of the squad there. This is embarassing.

Harry Kane had 23 goals and assists in 16 knock-out matches alone last season. That is more than half of Lamine Yamal's entire 2025/2026 return across 53 matches. They'll tell you that goals and assists don't matter for the Ballon d'Or but then in the very next post will say Lamine Yamal and Raphihna are the best in the world so far this season and point to their goals and assists as evidence. Even with double standards, some fans still have no standards.

It's always hilarious when Lamine Yamal fans use "ratings". First, ratings apps are silly. They are skewed towards offensive players (yes Harry Kane too) and Sofascore is by far the worst at it. BUT, since we are using it, during the 2025/2026 season, Harry Kane had 11 matches in which he was rated as a 9.0 or better. Lamine Yamal had 8. In the Champions League, Kane had 3 and Yamal had 1. Regarding "eye test", it would make sense that you don't know how to properly value a striker considering Barcelona hasn't had a striker hit 50+ goals in a season in a decade and it has only happened once, ever (Suarez in 2015/2016).

Harry Kane's 2025/2026 season and what you won't see: Harry Kane scored in 43 of the 58 matches he played for Bayern Munich and England. Of the 43 matches he scored in, Harry Kane scored either the first or the winning goal in in 23 of those matches. He was MoTM in at least 17 matches. He scored a brace in 22 of the 58 matches. Harry Kane played the most matches (30) against clubs ranked in the Top 100 of UEFA's 5-Year Coefficient. He played 30 matches against 17 different clubs. He scored against 15 of the 17 clubs (Arsenal and Sporting are the games he didn't score). He scored 2 or more goals against 12 out of the 17 clubs he faced. He scored 3 or more goals against 5 of the 17 clubs he faced. In total, nearly half of Harry Kane's total goals and assists came against clubs who have played European Football over the last 5 years. He had 40 G/A against those clubs. Harry Kane played 12 matches for Bayern Munich in which they faced elimation. Harry Kane averaged 1.40 goals and assusts per 90 minutes for Bayern Munich and England averaging a goal or an assist every 64 minutes. That's more than Mbappe, Haaland, Olise, and Yamal who round out the Top 5. He is the ONLY player to average a goal involvement every 70 minutes or less. He had a higher goals per 90 than Lionel Messi did during the 2011/2012 season. If they played a similar amount of minutes, Harry Kane likely would have had the most goals in a single season, ever. 5,536 minutes played and 3 yellow cards. Zero red cards. Zero yellows in Champions League or World Cup. He, by far, wins more fouls than he commits. Nearly double the number. It was an incredible season for Harry Kane and Bayern Munich. Regardless of the Ballon d'Or, it wasn't a fluke.
