ALT A dark indigo wall ruled with faint ledger lines, the word "—where?" lettered huge and barely visible across it. A heavy tan carrier rope sags across the whole top edge and runs off both sides, numbered along its length. About a hundred knotted cotton cords hang from it, in cream, oxblood, indigo, ochre, teal and brown. Dim ones fall straight off the bottom. Brighter ones are gathered into seven bundles whipped with thread and sweep diagonally down into a dense tangled mass of loops and knots at lower right. Thin subsidiary cords branch off, small paper tags read ENTERED, and the middles of the cords are darkened by grease. One thick plain red cord with no knots drops from the mass off the bottom edge.
