We are happy to announce the release of these two men who have been imprisoned since 2022; one arrested because he was wearing slippers similar to those of the complainant, and the other arrested by the police during a raid while he was hawking. Their ordeal came to our attention in January 2024 during a visitation to the Medium Security Correctional Centre where our legal team in Lagos, interviewed them and discovered that, despite having been arrested since 2022, they had never been taken to court. Immediately, our legal team took up their cases and began tracking the matter at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), eventually tracing the case to the court of Justice Coker. It was not until March 2024 that we made our first appearance in the matter. From then on, we continued appearing before Justice Coker on more than seven occasions for trial and filed several applications urging the court to strike out the case despite all the adjournments, and the prosecution failing to produce a single witness. Early in 2025, we were informed that Justice Coker was on official assignment and that the matter would be transferred to another court. Once again, our legal team began the painstaking process of tracking the case to determine where it had been transferred. We eventually discovered that the matter had been transferred to the court of Justice Oshodi. We appeared before Justice Oshodi for the first time in March 2025. The charges were read to the defendants, and both men pleaded NOT GUILTY. At the close of the prosecution's case, we filed a No Case Submission, arguing that the prosecution had failed to establish a case requiring the defendants to answer and the case was subsequently adjourned for ruling. Today, the wait is finally over! The Court delivered its ruling in our favour, upheld our No Case Submission, and consequently discharged and acquitted both men. What makes this victory even more profound is that throughout this nearly four-year ordeal, not a single member of either defendant's family appeared in court. No other lawyer also represented them. They endured years in custody largely unseen and unheard. Today, they walk free. May justice always prevail. #AccessToJustice #Nigeria #Probono

THE TRAFFIC JAM THAT ALMOST RUINED MY BIRTHDAY May 15, 2017. My birthday. I woke up excited. It was supposed to be a beautiful day. But there was something else on my calendar that morning: a major Corporate Communications meeting with country CEOs, chaired by our Chairman. The meeting was scheduled for 8:00 a.m. in Ikoyi, so I left home much earlier than usual. At about 7:10 a.m., approaching Eko Bridge towards Leventis, I ran into terrible traffic. At first, I wasn't worried. Then 10 minutes passed. Nothing moved. That was when my heart started racing. I kept checking the time. 7:20. 7:30... No meaningful movement. Suddenly, the excitement of my birthday disappeared. All I could think about was: "Nduka, you are going to be late." And not late for just any meeting. Late for a meeting being chaired by the Chairman. "Oh Lord, I dont want to a misuse this privilege." My mind immediately began creating the worst possible scenarios. Of all days, why today? Why on my birthday? What kind of bad luck was this? Then I caught myself. I decided I wasn't going to spend my birthday declaring disaster over my own life. So right there in that traffic, I started speaking differently: "This traffic will work to my advantage." "I will be celebrated today." "This is my day of glory." But my conscious mind fought back: "Celebrated ke? You are already late nah!" 😂 I would answer again: "This will work for my good." It became a battle inside me. Fear presenting the evidence. Faith insisting on a different conclusion. Eventually, I decided which voice I was going to believe. The traffic finally eased. I got to the UBA car park, parked quickly, jumped into a keke and headed for Ikoyi. By the time I arrived, it was around 8:30 a.m. Thirty minutes late. I opened the door. Silence. Heads turned. All eyes were on me. You know that kind of entrance where you suddenly wish you could become invisible? 😂 I quietly tiptoed to the second row, close to my boss, sat down and tried to compose myself. My boss finished what he was saying. Then the Chairman spoke. "Nduka, tell us something exciting about yourself." I grinned. There was only one answer. "Today is my birthday!" His face lit up. "Wow! Come to the stage!" I walked forward. Then he asked the room: "Who can sing Happy Birthday for Nduka?" And suddenly, this meeting I had spent the morning terrified of entering late turned into a birthday celebration. They sang for me. The Chairman and I took a selfie together on his phone. That is the photograph you're looking at. Hours earlier, stuck in traffic, I had been imagining embarrassment. Instead, I walked into a room where I was celebrated. The traffic didn't change. My lateness didn't magically disappear. But the ending I feared never happened. That morning left me with something I still carry: Be careful what conclusion you reach while you are still in the middle of the story. What looks like a terrible beginning may simply be a chapter whose ending you haven't seen yet. That traffic jam wasn't the end of my good day. It became part of the story of a birthday I would never forget.

Pastor Paul Enenche was in Uganda, travelled back to Nigeria, and is now ministering at Apostle Michael Orokpo’s meeting. Honestly, I don't understand where these ministers get the energy! 😂 The travelling alone is something else. Different countries, different time zones, flights, little rest—and they still show up looking fresh, full of strength, and ready to minister to people. There is a grace for the assignment. We may see the stage, the microphones, the crowds and the powerful ministrations, but there is a price of labour behind it that many people never see. May the Lord continually strengthen every man and woman of God who is labouring for the Kingdom. May their bodies be strengthened, may their families be preserved, may their travels be safe, and may they never minister from an empty spiritual reservoir. May their labour of love never be in vain. May they finish their race well and fulfil everything God has committed into their hands. Amen. 🙏🏾

I saw a video of young people - aged early twenties, I think - who do not know who former President Obasanjo is. Then, a few hours ago, I sat with some of the young corps members attached to my department. All of them in their twenties. Not a single one of them knew Sisqo, R. Kelly, Ja Rule, Boys II Men, Kelly, Usher, Claude Van Damme, or even Keanu Reeves was. They did not know Zule Zoo, Sound Sultan, etc. I understand the age factor, but I also realized something; in our time, we knew about people and events that existed and exited ling before us, because we read vastly, and had a deep sense and knowledge of history. We watched every kind of TV programme, including documentaries about insects, culture, religion, war, and crime. We knew what happened in other climes, and who did what. At age 8, I knew who Salman Rushdie was, and wrote my first article about him then. I read every kind of book and magazine. Today's generation is more inclined toward trends; what is trending now. Tech. Fashion. Drama. DIY. Etc. Very limited sense of history. I am not saying that one generation is better than tbe other; it only just occurred to me the stark differences and dynamics of generations and eras, and had me thinking how different we are, yet the same.

Open doors. Recommend them. Trust them with opportunities. To the younger generation: don’t wait for somebody to hand you a future. Build something worth believing in. When opportunity comes, be ready. Because sometimes, all a young person needs is one person with influence to say: “I believe in what you are doing. Go ahead.” And sometimes, all an older person needs is the willingness to say: “Let me enter your world and see what you are building.” When generations support each other, everybody gets to grow. I grew up in a Muslim household. I speak Arabic. I understand the deen. I will never denounce Islam. But Muslims in America need to wake up. This is not Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or whatever Muslim-majority country you or your parents came from. This is the United States of America. A country built by a Christian people, under English common law, with Christian based forming documents that still protects your right to pray... And everyone else’s right not to be drafted into your display. We are a small minority here. Act like it. The Islamic backlash is not a mystery. It’s self-inflicted. Public prayer stunts in Times Square. Loud dawah framed as “we’re taking over.” Importing old-country politics. Treating American norms as optional and then acting shocked when natives push back. Most Americans will never say this out loud: They don’t want the adhan blasted in public squares. They don’t want a new mosque on every corner. They don’t owe you their language. They don’t want your relatives imported by default. They don’t have to care that you’re fasting. This doesn't mean you can't practice, fast, pray and, build a life. Do it without turning the host country into a stage and then crying “Islamophobia” when people notice. Ungrateful, performative Muslims don’t advance the religion. They hand critics footage and make the rest of us look like idiots. Stop giving them the ammo. If you want to be performative, go to the UAE, Saudi, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, or any of the other beautiful countries in the middle east. Many are clean, safe, and there are no ghetto black people. Assimilate or go there.
