New radiation safety guidance published 8/2026 ( jscai.org/article/S2772-9303…) reinforces the importance of protecting cath lab teams from occupational exposure, and keeping radiation safety at the forefront of our practice. I was honored to be part of this JSCAI Clinical Conversation about cath lab radiation safety with Dean Kereiakes, David Rizik, Kenneth Rosenfield, and Arizona State Senator Carine Werner. We discussed how, while radiation protection technology continues to evolve, implementation of enhanced protection strategies remains inconsistent. Cost, regulatory standards, and differences in institutional practices can all play a role. The conversation also reinforced that protecting our teams requires more than technology alone. Education, appropriate monitoring, training, standardized practices, updated regulations, and continued research all have an important role in reducing occupational exposure and supporting the ALARA (as low as is reasonably achievable) principle. What if a #smartwatch could identify worsening heart failure before it leads to hospitalization? So happy to share our latest publication in JACC: Heart Failure. In TRIBE-HF II, we evaluated CardioID, a passive smartwatch-enabled AI platform that combines heart rate–derived physiologic patterns with serial NT-proBNP measurements to detect worsening heart failure. Our findings suggest this approach may identify physiologic deterioration earlier than conventional weight-based monitoring.
