I went inside Hamas tunnels in Gaza. There is rubble above ground but terrorists have clean tiles and mattresses. The IDF is discovering new tunnels. On the Oct 7 anniversary, they fear that Hamas is building new infrastructure for fresh attacks @GBNEWS

A Chinese official attempted some of that Wolf Warrior Diplomacy ™ shit. It did not go well. This guy responding is our kindred spirit. Philippines' Defence Minister Gilberto Teodoro was speaking up for smaller nations and international law at a forum in Korea when a staff member handed him a note from a Chinese official. It was meant to be intimidating. But Teodoro just read it all out, eviscerated it line by line, and called the Chinese official out on their disrespect - both to international law and their Korean hosts. China wanted to reiterate that it rejects a UN ruling on the South China Sea. “Of course, because you lost,” says Teodoro. “This is actual coercion, bullying and aggression. I will keep this paper as a memento of how desperate China is and how ineffective its position is in the face of a free audience. Thank you very much for the person who gave me this piece of paper.” That’s exactly how you deal with this kind of modern day imperialist nonsense. Call it out. Don’t play by their game. Stubbornly stick to your values. And now millions of people around the world have got to hear all this in what should have been a pretty dull regional forum heard by policy wonks. "Thank you,” Teodoro adds, “and I hope you don't suffer in a gulag for it." x.com/dndphl/status/20971843…

A day of meetings today but three are of note: a British Jew, a tech guy, and an American-Israeli. Curious that each of them asked me, “Why are you so pro-Israel?” And it’s a weird answer because I’m not, in the sense they meant. I’m not a cheerleader: I have very happily criticised Israeli strategy; some of the IDF’s social media idiocy; events like the WCK strike; and people like Netanyahu/Ben Gvir/Smotrich and chums. But here are my foundational principles for my analysis: 1) Israel is a good country, an ally; after the Holocaust, Jews deserve a homeland and their ancestral lands are the perfect place for it to be. Jews are more indigenous to Judea than Arabs from Arabia, but Israel is a country that embraces both if someone wants to be an Israeli and live in peace. I've been to Israel. I've seen it firsthand. Israelis are not white Europeans. 2) The history of what is now Israel isn’t black and white; it’s complex with challenging ethical considerations on both sides, and there are no easy (or obvious) solutions to the current situation. 3) Having seen the 7th October massacre sites firsthand, it is unquestionable that Hamas deserve to all die in flames. Monsters. I don't usually agree with dehumanisation but Hamas have forfeited any claim to humanity. Therefore Israel’s war against them is just. 4) Civilians die in war, as an horrific corollary to combat, and from all my observations, Israel is setting the gold standard for civilian protection in modern warfare. 5) My ire is roused by the lies, and abuse of international law by Israel's, and the West's, enemies. The accusations of genocide and apartheid are unconscionably malign. As something of an expert in the field of disinformation, the patterns of this false information and its spread are nakedly clear to see. 6) The celebrations of 7 October in London were the most awakening and horrific political event I've seen in my lifetime. That variations have been allowed to continue weekly on our capital's streets is, to me, an obscenity. I will never not stand with my British countrymen and women against antisemitism. So that's my position. Just to be very clear. I don’t have an agenda, I just call it how I see it. And that’s how I see it.

Good morning from The Hague 🇳🇱 While Europe tries to cripple putin’s war economy with sanction after sanction, Dutch brand Spar keeps opening new supermarkets in russia. Hundreds of stores. New openings in moscow this year. Sanctioned goods on the shelves. @SPARInt claims they “can’t” terminate the old licensing contracts. Experts strongly disagree.
Ending the licences would:
• Stop brand misuse & normalising aggression
• Align with Dutch government policy (“unacceptable to do business in russia”)
• Be fully possible under current EU law that better protects companies against russian claims @ThijsReuten - time to push harder on this.‼️ Dutch brands should not profit from this war. This must stop. Pls share. Have a great day everyone. Keep supporting Ukraine 🇺🇦

On the United States' 250th birthday 🎂 Tangent as I'm not a huge SNL fan . . . but I enjoyed their patriotic sketches featuring Nate Bargatze as George Washington and this one with Walton Goggins on the Second Amendment or simply "Guns”.
Celebrating the United States 250th birthday in the next month with some Patriotic Nate Bargatze SNL skits which are unpolitical . . . tangent but I have no problem with SNL being political I just want them to be an equal opportunity offender so to speak.

The June 18 UN COI report asserting that the Israeli military deliberately targeted children as part of an intentional genocidal strategy pokes holes in its own premise right at the start of the document. The report acknowledges that about 50% of Gaza are minors, and that October 7 War casualties in Gaza were 30% children. No doubt that the death of any child is a tragedy, but assuming that this statistic is correct, this would indicate that Gazan minors were negatively disproportionately represented among the casualties. If children were deliberately sought as targets or targeted under a policy of indiscriminate fire, then the proportion of minors among casualties would be closer to half. Putting aside the use of child soldiers, human shields, civilian objects as military assets, and the intensity of urban combat, the proportions alone would indicate that the IDF avoided harming children rather than deliberately targeting them.
