The best way I can describe the first volume is if you were told in the opening page about the monsters in the promised neverland early, their purpose in the fact they feed on humans and the adoption service is a human farm. The first few pages spoils itself.

If Cory showed restraint and tried to engage the viewer by the mundane but you still get an eerie sense something is wrong, then you would have a solid first chapter or volume. But no, he just spoon feeds it to you and then you just have to wait for the MC to figure what you know
