The chart below is the monthly chart of bitcoin for about the last 10 years. Not a bad looking chart, right? Looks like an uptrend to me. But no one knows the future, and if they tell you that they are lying.
So far in bitcoin’s history (since 2009), after about every 3 years of bullish movement, bitcoin has had a cool-down period, usually accompanied by much FUD and bearish sentiment. Bitcoin futures launched in December 2017 followed by a nasty crash, attributed to institutions using futures to “short the hell out of BTC.”
Near 2021’s end, the FTX exchange was exposed for being involved in using its customers funds to gamble on meme coins, tanking the entire crypto market.
And now here we are, in a bear market roughly 4 years later, screaming at Michael Saylor for selling 32 bitcoin after his company Strategy had accumulated over 800 thousand BTC!
People seem to love having an explanation for bitcoin’s price movements, but to me it really just seems to be the cycle playing out. You can blame the halving, the macro cycle, or the phases of the moon, but at the end of the day, to me it’s just bitcoin being his mischievous self.
