can people stop flocking to EVs, leccy prices are going to £1 per kWh to catch up with petrol soon
Probably going to get some stick for this but we got one of those Chyna EVs everyone is going on about.
Replaced a Q5. This car shouldn't be possible for £30k and, yes, I know its subsidised by the Chinese Communist Party. And I don't care. Lots of things are subsidised by dodgy people to get market share. I got a lease for £250 a month. Its loaded with tech and is pretty intuitive once you get used to the interface.
I did try to live with a Mini Cooper but tip trips, elderly relatives and occasional 6’3 child & mates just didn’t work.
Anyway, first long range EV trip yesterday down to London to visit the kids. A 200 mile roundtrip from Stratford to Fulham.
Firstly, could prob have done it there & back by skin of my teeth but would have been very stressy. So stopped off at first service station on the way back up the motorway for a top up just to put 50 miles range over and above what I needed. Took 20 mins. So to Beaconsfield services for a pee & coffee which used up most of that time and the remainder chatting to other EV charger clients about how complicated chargers are - which *always happens*. Other EV drivers are the most sociable bunch. We're early adopters and therefore brave and interesting.
Anyway, a super comfortable ride, listened to that really annoying Owen Jones Triggerpod interview and I am a total convert to EVs now.
I charge on my drive most of the time so the cost of running this is minuscule and as fast charge technology develops and range increases to 400 miles can't seen a reason why I'd ever go back to petrol.
You can abuse me now. And yes, its purple.
