I do think there's definitely some truth to that, but I think it goes beyond Blake tbh...I think he represents the fact that she has chosen to live happily and loudly on both sides of the "cultural" divide that exists in our country... And it's very hard for some people to separate that from politics (which I think is very unfair... And imo part of what's so wrong with politics right now).
I think it's hard for a lot of people to understand that Gwen is probably a "do unto others", "do not judge", "love thy neighbor" Catholic... And that's whether the "other" be an immigrant, queer, poc, or yes, maga... Ya know, the Jesus and Dolly Parton school of Christianity and culture 😂🙏
And I understand why that can be hard to swallow at a time when so much is at stake... And respect why it might turn people off... And I also don't at all want to generalize, because I know there's plenty of people who have totally valid issues with Gwen, and with Catholicism (I myself had a very complicated childhood and young adult relationship with religion), and that's not at all what I'm talking about.
But all that being said...I think a lot of people online have created a version of who they believe Gwen Stefani to be, past and present, that is straight up fiction... And I think that's definitely in part based on what you're getting at.
