Okay hear me out. Just like Tesla, starlink will fail in India mainly because of its expensive price. India is a very price sensitive market & Elon very well understands that. Only reason he is adamant about its launch in India is to bypass government’s restrictions incase government of India wants to shut Internet down in some areas where there is a security threat. With unrestricted access to internet he’ll project himself as a messiah of free speech & democracy provoking citizens to overthrow the ruling party thereby inducing a never ending cycle of chaos while deep state calling the shots in backdrop. That’s the whole point. (If he hands over the final kill switch for starlink over India to the GOI, I don’t see any reason it’ll be not allowed)

Many are comparing Indian monthly mobile plan of ₹399 VS Starlink monthly plan of ~₹8,000 Pls note: Mobile data plans are for dense, urban, rural areas Starlink is for the places where phones are not reachable/no towers exist (mountains, deserts, ocean, islands, planes)
Unfortunately, we are being blocked by certain oligarchs in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people. You can guess who they are … This is a crime against the people of India!

"Starlink is for the places where phones are not reachable/no towers exist" sounds like hideouts of terrorists and gangsters. The civilized population is already covered by mobile services, even in remote places in India.

They have converted the whole issue of security compliance into "access for rural India". Only 5% of Indians don't have access to 4G internet. Starlink speeds at an affordable pricing will not be any better. Rural indians can't even afford it - unless they provide it at a loss.

they have already had connectivity of many types for decades now. Starlink is one player among many for ship communications.

I agree with Elon. As someone actively building software that enables even India’s poorest to earn money simply by sharing product links, I want maximum internet coverage. More access means more opportunity. More opportunity means more prosperity for our nation. The oligarchs blocking 100% coverage are doing a disservice to India. Focus on the truth.
Starlink will be of great help to areas of India that have bad or no Internet and even no mobile coverage. No country has perfect coverage, including America, but Starlink can fill in the coverage gaps for those who most need it.

- This is not arm twisting tactic by the US. - The intentions of Elon are noble. - They really want to help poor in India to get internet access. If you believe any of the above statements to be true, I have a bridge to sell.

It may seem in isolation, but really isn’t. The suspension on green card path, indirectly also impacts H1-B. The semantics of smaller percentage is just a diversion.

They have an easy and direct way to bypass this - which has not been affected even one bit. The L-1 visas and EB-1C green cards. Cognizant, TCS etc have been abusing that route for 20+ years now. Even Amazon and Google are using it a lot these days.

Microsoft Suspended from H1-B The U.S. govt is fooling its voters due to forthcoming mid-term elections. Microsoft in India has 20,000 employees, 10 offices, and its largest R&D center in India outside of Redmond HQ. All Indians who are refused H1-B will be moved to India. Satya Nadella has announced fresh ₹1.70 lakh cr ($17.5B) investments in India 2026-30. More employees, more offices are coming. New Noida campus 1.1M sq ft is under construction. Never forget this: Governments are elected to fool the people. That’s their primary national duty.

I don't understand their reason for selective outrage towards Microsoft. Amazon files far more H1B petitions. If they really care about American workers - why have they said NOTHING about the L-1 visas and EB-1C green cards which don't need LCA / PERM filings with USDoL?

Going by Elon Musk's tweet from 2021, Starlink could well be working in India, even if the 🇮🇳 Govt has not authorized its operations.. "They can shake their first at the Sky" is Elon's response to someone who questioned the regulatory side of things..

Starlink works in line of sight of a satellite. If that satellite is visible over Bangladesh (where starlink is used) it’s visible over northeast india. “Turned off” only happened in May 26 over Burma. This fellow is twisting the facts.
Starlink beams are turned off over India, so the claim that they were used by anyone for any reason is absolutely false

Ending h1b will take care of that automatically. L1 visas and their dependents on L-2 have similar benefits like H4 - and they don't even need an EAD to work. Just their visa approval is enough! Utter madness.

You're better off selling chaddis. Stop spreading fake into. The issue is actually about security compliance which is currently under review. This post has some nice details about the long-term agenda.
Ukraine used 47,000 Starlink internet terminals during its war with Russia Soldiers used them to fly drones, share targets, and talk to each other on battlefield. In 2022, Elon Musk personally decided not to turn on Starlink near Crimea because he feared nuclear war. Ukrainian underwater drones heading to attack Russian ships lost internet mid way and failed. Pentagon then started buying terminals directly so Musk could not switch off service on his own. One private businessman had power to decide what military operations could happen After protests in Iran, American government secretly sent 6,000 Starlink terminals into country. Over 100,000 people inside Iran used Starlink to access internet even though government shut down all normal connections. Iran made it illegal to own or use Starlink. If caught using it for spying, punishment is death. For personal use, punishment includes flogging and up to 2 years in prison. In India, army found Starlink terminal with weapons belonging to militant groups in Manipur in December 2024. Starlink connects directly to satellites, so governments cannot block it easily India has not allowed Starlink to launch because of security concerns. Ministry of Home Affairs studied what happened in Iran, where terminals worked without government approval and bypassed all internet controls. India wants guarantees that Starlink coverage over its territory cannot be switched on or off from United States based on American political decisions. SpaceX agreed to store Indian user data locally and allow government audits. But bigger worry is that during any future conflict, satellite internet controlled by foreign company could bypass Indian communication controls without permission First Try in China :)

The H1B issue has been all theatrics, with zero substance. The companies listed are not even the largest users of H1B or green cards right now. They also use a different pathway called L-1 visas and EB-1C for green cards which bypass the Dept. of Labor reviews.

Gloves are off now, Elon. Still no licence? Wrong. Starlink got its Unified Licence with GMPCS authorisation from the DoT in June 2025. You know that. Your own VP posted about it. Ambani is the real boss? Ambani's Jio lobbied for a spectrum auction. India gave you administrative allocation, the exact thing you asked for. Then you signed distribution deals with Jio and Airtel. If Ambani is blocking you, why is he your reseller? Five years of complying? In 2021 you took pre-order money from Indians with no licence at all. The DoT had to order you to stop and refund people. That was your first move in India. India's home ministry reportedly froze clearances after Starlink terminals showed up in Iran, where you aren't even licensed. Before that, our army pulled one out of a militant cache in Manipur. Your own company says talks are active and productive. So which version is true: the one your VP tells Delhi, or the one you tell 200 million followers? The spectrum rules were cleared last month and are headed to Cabinet. You're weeks from the finish line, and you're throwing a tantrum in public to rush a sovereign country's security review. India isn't a market you can bully on X. Wait your turn.
Starlink is licensed in over 165 countries and has spent five years complying with every single law and requirement of the government of India, so why still no license? Is Ambani the real boss of India?
