Lifecycle of a ReHabitat pod deployment. These sites were on North Head, Sydney, after big fires there. Watch as the pods go from crisp new cardboard to a thick layer of mulch for the regenerating vegetation growing up, over, and around them. ReHabitat.au

Reminder: We will not get the results tonight. Don't let the horse race media coverage and repeated "Breaking News" chyrons get to you. Stay calm, drink water, and wait it out. Every vote must be counted.

Wild herbivores' impacts on vegetation in arid Australia translate to soil seedbanks shorturl.at/no5bn. @TongtongXu16 shows that seed density increased along an aridity gradient and that herbivores suppressed seed density at the most arid site. @willcornwelll @BapsWijas

A mining company has been green-lit to clear banksia woodlands north of Perth, although the area was declared a threatened ecological community in 2016. "Protecting large and representative areas of these beautiful woodlands is critical to the survival of the species that depend on them if woodlands continue to be lost to urban expansion and mining,” @NickiJMitch, who studies turtle frogs in banksia woodlands @uwanews. A thing never highlighted … Every DP grant from the ARC is a salary for a young Australian scientist to develop their career. One DP grant to a mentor = one career for the next generation. DP grants are the ONLY means to fund salaries for our best new scientists.

Love wolves and science?!?! An outstanding team of Pakistani scientists and I are raising funds to conserve Indian wolves in Pakistan! The project is primarily led and conducted by my amazing colleagues @FatimaHira202 @rabbya_malik and Rubab Naqvi experiment.com/projects/cons… 🧵⬇️

People often ask me what I do for my “job” envisaging exciting field work and seeing wild dingoes in the bush… But the reality is very different. Today I’m subsampling dingo ears for a new project… and picking up the mail which contains more ear samples… 👩🏻‍🔬👩‍💻🐕

Native dingoes are helping protect Australia's largest population of endangered night parrots by managing predatory feral cats. New research by Ngururrpa Rangers and Parna Ngururrpa Aboriginal Corporation shows the significance of dingo in the landscape. abc.net.au/news/science/2024…

Almost like how the Victorian Gov @DEECA_Vic @JacintaAllanMP recognize dingoes are a vulnerable threatened species but are still allowing (and extending) lethal control 3km into public land in eastern Victoria. This is not evidence-based policy, this is policy failure.
"This is self-defeating and a recipe for failure from a conservation point of view" - @james_trezise @Biodivcouncil The survival of 14 species of native fish is being threatened by conflicting government policies and programs. While one arm of government is actively trying to save these species from extinction while another arm is deliberately introducing one of their primary threats (trout) into their habitat. Over 130,000 years Australia's predator community has been reorganised, what does this mean for ecological function and food webs? In @CurrentBiology, we show that modern food webs resemble those of the Late Pleistocene, but only when dingoes are present. shorturl.at/BGz3L
