And most people are drawing the wrong lessons from this news. 107 new graduates lost jobs and appealed to outside force outside China because the company sells things to EU. Now there's huge sympathy for the workers and backlash for the company. The company backtracked and promised more compensation, and netizens cheer for them. However this will make many Chinese workers worse off later, as the company technically didn't break Chinese law. And Chinese law and media made the formal sector so hard to fire people (harder than the US), Chinese companies now will use even less formal workers but use contractors. I hate to say this but many people cheering for the workers from this news don't understand the 2nd order consequences that's going to be not necessarily good for workers.
