It's unfair to say that Morrisons are not investing in stores to maintain their EBITDA run rate.

I love the Japanese intro to Postman Pat. It's so relaxing. For research purposes, I've painstakingly translated the Japanese lyrics...

Everyone is worse off now. You’re speeding up automation.
If you haven't read Badenoch's latest pamphlet, I don't blame you, but in it she launches an attack on the minimum wage. When so many people across Britain are struggling with the cost of living, it’s so tin eared. Same old Tories. They always want working people worse off.

The squeeze is on
There are 7 million households in Britain with a mortgage, 29% of the total. I wonder how long it will be before rising rates beomes a political issue.

Morrisons and Asda would be a zombie retailer with the debt. No chance at all, surely......!? No surprise on price either; Morrisons despite EBITDA and LfL are not what they once were.
Exclusive tale behind the Sainsbury’s- Morrisons talks: Broke down over price. Team had enlisted advisers to get comfortable on disposals to ease competition concerns. Combo of Morrisons-Asda can’t be ruled out: How Sainsbury’s got its appetite back: as.ft.com/r/8ea67183-ee9f-44…

My local Morries takes less than a quarter than it did 20 years ago, (inflation adjusted). My old bog standard small Safeway took more in 1997. (A quarter of the size).

We have recently switched back to Sainsbury's with morrisons going downhill. Found it harder to buy the products we want, either because they chose to discontinue lines that were popular and also reducing my work discount from 5% to 2% whilst Sainsbury's maintained theirs at 5%
Perhaps Sainsbury's walked some shops hence pulled out of the deal. This degradation in the estate is obvious to everyone who visits Morrisons. It's a crying shame.

The withdrawal of the personal allowance for people who earn more than £100k was introduced in 2010. Because the £100k has not been indexed it is the equivalent to the personal allowance having been withdrawn at £62.5k in 2010 pounds. Further, because the personal allowance has doubled the effective 60% band has doubled. You can only conclude want everyone to have the same net income whether on benefits or as a high earner.

Public claims deserve a public response. Especially when they’re inaccurate and misleading. @owenslindsay1 has repeatedly suggested Walmart uses or plans to use technology to charge people more based on their personal information.

Correcting the Record: We Price Products, Not People

Dear Ms. Owens: Your recent public statements repeatedly mischaracterize Walmart’s pricing practices and use of technology. They leave audiences believing Walmart uses or is preparing to use

Sainsbury's will be interested in consolidating their position at number 2 in the sector so Morrisons are obviously an attractive target. However recently things have slowed in Morrisons, as we know. The geographic overlap would be less of an issue but what to do about Market Street and the Cafe would be a key issue. As would be the Morrisons estate which is suffering with a lack of Capex. Not beyond the realms that Aldi, build a new store and sell rest off. Similar to what they have done in Florida with Winn Dixie.

My 5 year fixed mortgage at 1.14% comes up for renewal in Feb 27. The best rate on the table right now is 5.3% That’s an extra £700 every single month in pure interest expense for the exact same house. Faced with this choice: would you take 2 year fix hoping for cuts, or lock in 5 years for long term stability
