Nigeria has a serious problem with rape culture, and we must confront it honestly. A UK lawyer’s reported argument that a Nigerian man accused of raping a minor acted because of his “cultural background” should make us reflect on the image we project to the world.
Rape is not our culture. Abuse is not tradition. Culture must never be an excuse for sexual violence.
We cannot change the narrative by denying the problem. We change it by confronting it, holding perpetrators accountable, educating our society, and protecting victims.
The truth may be uncomfortable, but acknowledging the problem is the first step towards changing the narrative.

#1: The reports that they were married are false.
#2: The reports that they were performing holy piligrimmage in the mosque of mecca is also false
#3: In fact these two were caught having sex in the Mecca Grand Mosque (Holiest place on earth for Muslims) 39 months ago; that is 3 years and 3 months ago, and the Bangladesh consulate in Saudi Arabia was informed about their arrest.
#4: For that period of 39 months, they underwent all the Shariah court arraignment accused of committing "indecent acts in the holy mosque of mecca" which is real live sexual intercourse; they were found live committing it and were grabbed and tried in the Shariah courts in Saudi Arabia, a case that took a period of 39 months in total until the final judgement which found both of them GUILTY and convicted them to DEATH sentence.
#5: On 14th October 2026, that is when the death penalty was administered to both of them, and they were #beheaded as per the Saudi Arabia Shariah Justice.
#6: You do not go to other countries and start committing crimes which are punishable by death sentence and start claiming #HUMAN_RIGHTS hoping to be pardoned or repatriated alive. Same thing goes to #CHINA, you get caught with drugs, they will hang you to #DEATH regardless of who you are, periodt.

When Busola Dakolo cried out about what Fatoyinbo did to her, Nigeria stood with her. We felt her pain. The issue trended. Blogs, WhatsApp, Facebook carried it. Timi Dakolo was our brother in pain, and we carried that pain with him.
Now that same Timi Dakolo is supporting APC and telling youths "don't kill yourself over friendship"? After APC has killed youths?
Who killed at Lekki Toll Gate? Who has left families crying over insecurity, over hunger, over fuel price? People have DIED. Youths have DIED. And you say don't kill yourself over friendship?
Look at the just concluded Osun Elections, people still died. How long are we going to keep on allowing this party ruin our lives? Look at your mates in saner climes, you cannot measure up to half of what they have achieved since they relocated.
