Holy FUCK!!!!!
So, my personal backup drive is a 6tb external 2.5hdd. About 9 months ago I picked up a second identical drive(except in a different color) so I could clone it to keep in my laptop bag(which stays in my edc backpack). About 6 months ago, the original drive died. Windows desktop couldn’t see it. Windows laptop couldn’t see it. Windows ROG Ally couldn’t see it. Linux laptop couldn’t see it. I wrote it off and tossed it in a drawer for parts in the off chance I need them. This morning, I came across it and realized I hadn’t tried plugging it into my MacBook Neo.
My MacBook Neo can see this drive! Even better, I could browse the files on it! Even BETTER better, I was able to wipe it and reformat the drive into an HFS+ drive, which took a while(not surprising considering how old of a format that is, and how large this drive is), I’m now once again copying all my files to it from my now-primary drive! It isn’t going very fast, but, considering the port availability on my MacBook Neo and the fact that I’m using a $15 hub to connect both drives AND keep the thing charged at the same time, I can’t complain too much. Once this first batch of files is done copying over in about 2 hours, I’ll be able to test the drive to make sure it can properly read at usable speeds.
I’m only moving 158gb for the test, and it’s going to take 2 hours, so I’m not looking forward to moving the other 5000gb…
