A tale of 3 preachers: 1) Sermonizer (focus on the sermon) 2) Orator (focus on himself, inadvertently) 3) Expositor (focus on the text & Christ)

Theology 101: In AD 155, a “celebrity pastor” was somebody who served the Lord 86 years, prayed for hours, confronted heretics, provided a meal to the soldiers who came to arrest him, and was burned alive and stabbed to death for his unwavering faith. Times have changed, I guess.

The Church must: - Make disciples, not consumers. - Preach the Bible, not opinions. - Plan theological worship services, not theatrical ones. - Make Jesus famous, not ourselves. - Expand God’s Kingdom, not our brand. - Be ambassadors of Christ, not causes.

My newest book, The Bible Storyline, just released. It makes the Bible’s story understandable—showing its key themes and how Jesus fulfills them all. See how history is leading to a multi-national kingdom of Jesus over the nations. amazon.com/Bible-Storyline-U…

If as a pastor you're frustrated that young men and women have turned to podcasters for their public theology, here's a loving challenge: Teach them. Do apologetics. Build a Christian worldview. Answer hard questions. Be wise and balanced. Pastors, we need your voice!

I am blown away. Must read.
From Wayne Grudem: “Sometimes the results of our ministry appear many years later: In 1982, when our oldest son Elliot was in 3rd grade, Margaret began to think that we needed a Christian school in the north suburban Chicago area (there were none near us). As we talked, I agreed with her. We began to talk with other parents and soon we formed a committee to address the possibility of founding a Christian school. After many presentations at many churches and in many homes, Christian Heritage Academy opened in 1984 in Northbrook, Illinois with 59 students in grades K-6. The school now has moved to nearby Northfield, Illinois, and has over 400 students in grades K-12. I was the first president of the board, from 1982-1984. I think many of you who receive this prayer memo worked with us to get Christian Heritage Academy started. Fast forward to about 2005. There was an 11-year-old boy in 5th grade, and one day, after hearing a challenge from a teacher, he raised his hand to commit his life to Christ. This commitment set the direction of his whole life. The young boy’s name was Charlie Kirk.”

I believe we are seeing real revival. My dad saw it too. As a drugged-out alcoholic hippie, lost in the great darkness that characterized his culture, he stepped into a church to see what this Jesus stuff was all about. My daddy. I miss him. 💔
