if you trade the 5min ORB on Fridays, this stat is hard to ignore…
over the last 6 months on $NQ:
→ 68% of Fridays broke both sides of the 9:30–9:35 ORB
→ 20% broke only the high
→ 12% broke only the low
takeaway:
high breaks first = look for a reversal to target the low
low breaks first = look for a reversal to target the high
Friday’s 5min ORB has been a double-break setup nearly 7 out of 10 times.
Trading $NQ this Friday afternoon? You need to know this:
I scanned 724 outcomes on @edgeful and this was one of the strongest patterns that showed up:
→ Over the last 6 months, the 2–3PM Initial Balance broke to only one side 91% of the time on Fridays.
22-day sample.
Meaning once one side breaks today, seeing the other side break has historically been pretty rare.
Definitely something worth keeping in mind into the close.
Opus 5.5 analyzed the NY session IB correlation between $NQ and $ES, check it out:
→ NQ breaks IB high first → ES takes its IB high 82.7% of the time
→ NQ breaks IB low first → ES takes its IB low 79.3% of the time
→ ES breaks IB high first → NQ takes its IB high 75.9% of the time
→ ES breaks IB low first → NQ takes its IB low 76.0% of the time
that's across 755 days since September 2022.
so if NQ breaks its IB high while ES is still sitting inside its range...
historically, ES has been far more likely to break its high next than its low.
a pretty interesting piece of context to have on the screen when one market starts leading the other.
if you trade the $NQ IB on Fridays, this stat gives you a pretty clear expectation for the day…
over the last 6 months:
→ 72% of Fridays broke only one side of the 9:30–10:30 IB
→ 24% broke both sides
→ only 4% stayed inside the range
takeaway:
whichever side of the IB breaks first, look for continuation in that direction…
single break has been the outcome nearly 3 out of 4 times.

The 1:1 RR ORB strategy
IS INSANE WOW
Mark the range formed between 9:30AM – 9:45AM EST (Opening range / ORB)
• If the ORB low forms first → target the ORB high
What is ORB?
ORB = opening range breakout (the first 15 min candle of New York Open)
6 months NQ Stats via @edgeful
• ORB low forms first + aggressive buying
→ 80% probability of sweeping the high
this is a great example of using a bigger range to simplify the day…
4-hour IB breaks one side 74% of the time, so once the low breaks first, you’ve got a clear reason to stay bearish:
Getting chopped up by the market this week?
Zoom out and understand the daily direction first.
One simple way I’ve been doing this on Gold is by tracking the direction of the 4-hour ranges.
The 18:00–22:00 (ET) range has a 75% chance of only breaking one side.
Today the low broke first → bearish bias.
So today, a simple plan:
Wait for the pullback to 50%, then look for continuation towards the 50% extension. Aiming for around 2R
Nothing complicated — just using the data to help establish direction and following the trend.
I've been on my honeymoon the last couple of weeks so apologies if I have been a little absent.
Ready to get back to the grind 🔥

if $NQ opens inside yesterday’s range, it usually doesn’t stay there…
over the last 6 months:
→ 83.58% of inside-bar days broke out of yesterday’s range
→ only 16.42% stayed completely inside
→ 56 of 67 sessions eventually took out one side
takeaway:
inside bar at the open = be looking for a break of previous days high or low
historically, $NQ has broken out of the previous day’s range more than 8 out of 10 times.
