This woman brings up something that our public schools have completely missed. Our students aren’t necessarily faltering because school is too hard. The students are struggling because our public schools are asking them to consider gender and sexuality at 5 years old. I can’t even imagine how confusing (and terrifying) it would be for a five year old to be focused on their genitals instead of their ABCs.
Can we please have this woman run for anything so that we can elect her and ultimately make her POTUS?

I have taught for 44 years now. I have never taught children that they need to consider gender and sexuality at 5 years old. I have read books with themes such as “you can be what you want”. People warp that.

This is happening though in many schools and many districts across the country. We are not making this up.

Creating bad policies for fear of lawsuits from crazy parents reminds me of negotiating with terrorists or paying ransoms. They learn they can get their way and the problem gets worse. I say fight.

That literally isn’t happening. It’s the dumbass bigoted adults continually focusing on other people’s genitalia.

You’ve never seen a 3yo running around pretending a stick is a penis and it shows.

At long as he’s not being told he can get it cut off if he’d like.

Schools can't afford pencils but people think they can afford surgeries. This is ridiculous.

Schools aren’t paying for them. Medicaid was.

I have worked in public schools since 1988, a variety of districts, in tree-hugging California… …and NEVER witnessed a gender discussion, nor had one myself. The “agenda” hysteria is 💩.

Come spring, when every student (and teacher) is tasked with completing an "anonymous" survey that asks extremely personal questions, I will hear multiple kids exclaim "IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" out loud

Yes. That’s why. It’s not because of parents. Being “focused on their genitals instead of the ABCs” is not the reality in any public school classroom. It’s like some weird perverted fever dream.

As a recently retired educator/administrator who’s been in hundreds of classrooms, I’ve NEVER witnessed this. I bet you haven’t either. 🙄

I think one can make a good argument about the "mission creep" in school and its negative effects without being obnoxiously self-righteous. It's like she took her cues from Thunberg's famous "How dare you" speech.

Common Core based curriculum in the early grades often is too hard, especially for little boys.

I've been teaching thirty years and have never seen this at all. If it happens it is such a small percentage and should never happen. However this narrative makes it seem like all schools do it.

I've never taught elementary or middle school but I just can't imagine that it's especially common to teach kids about gender and sexuality in elementary school outside of crazy liberal areas. I agree it shouldn't be taught in school but I don't think it's one of the main issues.

They are impressionable by an adult at that age. I don’t understand why the focus isn’t just having the kids have as much joy and happiness as they can get. Let them have a chance to love the world and take joy in it’s wonders before they have to deal with the problems.

I fear for my granddaughters. The other grandma is a preschool/Pre-K teacher and the 30 month old already knows a lot.

More than anything, I read news reports of a staff member who was caught either filming students or had CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material).
