Mega VC Firms are becoming new American Institutions. Universities, media corporations, and big banks dominated the 20th century. They were seen as core pillars of America. Trusted. Important. Critical. a16z raising a $15B fund, was 18% of VC dollars raised in 2025. Several other funds raised over $5B including General Catalyst and Lightspeed. But this isn't about a few large new funds or a small moment in time. It's a phase shift. These firms are becoming core American Institutions for years to come. They are supporting new company creation, job opportunities, policy changes, early stage R&D, and are huge drivers of economic growth across a broad range of industries. These firms are funding what government may have just supported decades ago. But opening up opportunities for way more people. VC is no longer a niche industry. It's starting to play a critical role for the future of America.

Why aren't VCs innovating? @gopoptosis breaks down the lack of AI adoption in established VC firms. The implicit bet is they can keep up with AI by hiring more and more associates. How far can they go?

This is really an unbelievable story. When our founders were first figuring out whether they could use data science to spot interesting deals based on team/personnel/hiring dynamics, they found a company on the other side of the world with no revenue, but an as-good-as-it-gets team according to our data model. They were building "the @RobinhoodApp of India." This early insight allowed the team to get to @_groww early and start to add value immediately. This became the repeatable Ensemble strategy -- if we can get there early using our data, we can add value until we get our seat at the table. We invested at the Series A.
