Coastal hazards and winds that could knock out power remain the main issues with this storm. Threshold for limbs and some trees starting to break when fully leafed out is around 40mph or so. Highest risk is closest to the ocean, but will be some issues inland too. #wbz

Will the nor'easter end up getting named Gonzalo? Not out of the question, but I'd wager it wouldn't happen until post-season review
Once the storm gets vertically stacked (surface on up through the atmosphere) over warm-enough water, it will likely switch its structure to a subtropical storm
This isn't particularly unusual this time of year into October...when water is still warm enough to support these hybrid coastal storms

Feels like this question was resolved today. The capture and stall/loop will take place faster offshore of New Jersey, which is slightly better news for us here locally

Our initial assessment of the damaged section of NC12 near the Pea Island Visitor Center indicates about 500' of undermined and/or broken pavement. As a reminder, NC12 is CLOSED between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe. Crews will get a better assessment once the water clears.
