For my Philosophy/History lover followers: A thread about an interesting character I just learned about: Ichi Nakamura, Japan's Marco Polo, who traveled to Ancient Greece 1500 years before his european counterpart visited China! He apparently studied at Plato's Academy!

For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter. AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models. images.nvidia.com/pdf/Open-W…

Jensen has been doing what seems like a 24/7 interview cycle for months, and the number one question from the beginning should have been this exact exchange. I don't know if it's the decline of old media---where journalists are just not pushing and asking questions in the same "investigative" style that they used to---or something else. But I'm glad we have @dwarkesh_sp to do the research and shine the light.
This is the key moment between Jensen and Dwarkesh on export controls: 1. Dwarkesh asks why it’s okay to sell NVIDIA chips to China given the national security implications of AI models like Mythos. 2. Jensen gives a misleading answer, arguing that it’s okay to sell American chips to China because China already produces 60% of the world’s chips. 3. But as Jensen definitely knows, compute is measured in flops, not number of chips. 4. Dwarkesh then pushes back, pointing out that on a flops basis, China has 10% of the compute the US has, and giving them more compute would change their cyber capabilities. This exchange shows why it’s critically important for interviewers to have at least some technical knowledge, so they can push back against misleading talking points.

I have not seen a single mainstream media outlet give this the attention it deserves. Israel blew up an entire Lebanese town, an ancient place. It should be headline news. There’s footage of it happening. Imagine this was your town, and you saw every building blown up by a terrorist army to prevent you from ever returning. You would at the very least expect wall to wall coverage. Instead it passes without a word. It’s not the only town Israel has blown up. And sadly it probably won’t be the last.
My beautiful village Naqoura, destroyed by Israeli occupation forces.

The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE.....

As soon as this damning video came out my feed went radio silent on the shooting, weird algo that seems to favor Musk
The new angle of the murder of Renee Good is horrific. She told him just moments before her death “That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you.” And seconds later while trying to drive away, the ICE agent shot her dead and called her a “F**kin’ B*tch.” Horrific. Justice now.

I say this without any political affiliation or agenda. A woman sitting in a car full of toys, surrounded by masked officials, clearly panicking and making a mistake, whose vehicle may have struck one of them in a non-life-threatening way, would not have been executed in a civilized country. She would have been arrested, restrained, and brought before a court. The officer would have had the protection of the law. Instead, she was killed. That is not justice. What is even more disturbing are the reactions in the US comments on X. They show a near zero valuation of human life and instead aggressively glorify blind obedience to “law and order.” The underlying message is clear: comply perfectly or die. That mindset is not about justice or safety. It is about submission, and it exposes a deeply unhealthy moral compass.

Ser, I worry going this direction risks losing the plot. "The regime" are the people in power. "The state" is the organization with the guns. We must not let the language of liberty and resistance against the state be corrupted by a misperception that twists the terms "regime" and "state" into mere bywords for a Schmittian Enemy, using them to continue to beat down on a group long after it loses actual power. True liberty involves securing the balance of power ( vitalik.eth.limo/general/202… ), and this means challenging the abuses from the highest seats of authority, whoever they currently are. It is a quest that is inherently incompatible with being permanently supportive of one Team, or permanently opposed to another Team. But it is a quest that is necessary, to preserve the balance that keeps the world as a whole, and the experience of each precious individual person inhabiting it, in a state of freedom and security. Have you heard of Kiryas Joel, New York? A village of 44,000 predominantly Hasidic Jews in up-state New York living off the teat of welfare programs and according to Jewish Talmudic law. -99% of this village’s residents are Hasidic Jews -they speak primarily Yiddish -40% live below the federal poverty line -40-60% receiving SNAP assistance -reports estimate an average of 7 children per woman, some of the highest fertility rates in the developed world. -median age is 15 years old -almost all children attend private religious schools (yeshivas) -per capita income is $13,000 per year, which is extremely low compared to NY averages -they vote as a bloc -one of the fastest growing cities in New York -practically impossible to move into as a non-Jew If Americans are upset about Somalis in Minneapolis NOT assimilating, and living according to “Sharia Law” while sucking the teat of welfare programs, then what’s the excuse for this religious ethno-state feeding their massive families with your secular tax-dollars? If these Hasidic Jews can live exclusively together in their own Jewish ethno-state, then why can’t white people do it in Arkansas?

Absolutely the best take
Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley: “Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be assassinated. But I’m overwhelmed seeing the flags of the United States of America at half-staff calling this nation to honor and venerate a man who was an unapologetic racist and spent all of his life sowing seeds of division and hate into this land. And hearing people with selective rage who are mad about Charlie Kirk, but didn’t give a damn about Melissa Hortman and her husband when they were shot down in their home, tell me I ought to have compassion for the death of a man who had no respect for my own life. I am sorry, but there’s nowhere in bible where we are taught to honor evil. How you die does not redeem how you lived. You do not become a hero in your death when you are a weapon of the enemy in your life”

Solana’s future is dead. Since price is going up, manlets will call this cope. But can they debate my points ? 👇 ( forget Tom Lee, fight a third world peasant like me ) > Corpos are launching their own alt-L1s and not going for solana. What’s the use of solana ? > Corpos are launching their own Ethereum L2s and not going for solana. What’s the use of solana ? > Blackrock launched BUIDL on solana and after seed(20m), it received zero inflow. Like literally ZERO. NADA. Blackrock has finished their temperature check and not a single client of theirs trusts solana, while ethereum has received billions of inflows on BUIDL in the same period. > Solana has no slashing, so there no nothing at stake, zero economic security. > As solana price rise, their broken validator model fails due to voting fees. Becomes more centralised. ( in the last 2 years solana validator has fallen from 3000 to 1000. Centralisation is increasing. Alarming 🚑) > Solana has no client diversity and whatever they have is forced and controlled with foundation delegations. The client itself is the protocol. That’s why they will always have downtime. > Solana foundation has never ever revealed how much sol they own. In validator controlling delegations alone, they own 10 billion $ + worth sol. ( that’s 10% of the supply in delegations alone ). That’s why blackrock will never file for a solana ETF. They want their clients to be exit liquidity for solana insiders. Lord save the people who are still putting their hard earned money in this broken blockchain. Save your friends. Come to ETH. The ticker is ETH.

$ETH is now back to almost bear market lows. But fundamentally it's stronger than ever. 95% of all stablecoin transactions are happening on it. Most TVL and leader among RWA and DeFi narratives. Only #altcoin that has a spot ETF approval in the US. There are a lot of upcoming upgrades to make it faster and cheaper. If you believe in fundamental alts, you should bet on ETH.
