My Breaking Bad story.
It’s one of those shows that I’d never got around to watching. Still haven’t.
A few years ago I randomly signed up for a screenwriting workshop and we got a pilot episode scene from Breaking Bad to continue writing.
We did it live so we didn’t look up anything, it was all authentic.
I turned it in.
Turned out I’d pretty much written the characters like the actual pilot, and then some.
I did pretty well that day but I really surprised myself.
How on earth had it turned out so similar when I’m not even familiar with the genre…
I guess I’m more dark than I realised.
Breaking Bad is an acquired taste. The slow burn storytelling (debatable) and character development create an immersive experience. Breaking Bad isn’t for casuals.
