PARLA IS READY FOR HER FOREVER HOME 💛
And just like that, we’re introducing the last of our four golden girls… beautiful Parla 🥹
Parla was born in April 2025 and is a gorgeous golden retriever mix/mixed breed. She arrived in the UK from Turkey at the end of May with her three sisters and, just like the other girls, she has never known life in a home. All she has ever known is kennel life.
Parla is the fluffier of the girls, with the sweetest little crimped ears that make her ridiculously cute 😍
She is good with people and other dogs, although she’s a little more reserved initially. She likes to take a moment to work you out and make sure everything is safe before she fully relaxes. But once she does? You start to see that lovely, playful girl underneath!
She enjoys a fuss, loves getting out to play and, once she knows she’s safe with you, she really is just a lovely, sweet-natured girl.
🏡 We’re looking for:
• A rural or semi-rural home
• Adults or children aged 16+
• Kind, patient humans who understand she has lots to learn about home life
• She could live with another suitable, calm and confident dog who could help show her the ropes
• Plenty of time to decompress and discover the world at her own pace
Parla is currently in kennels in Gloucestershire and is ready for foster or adoption 🇬🇧
She has spent her whole life waiting for her chance to be someone’s dog. We would absolutely love for Parla to finally know what it feels like to have a home of her own 💛

The most depressing news I’ve read in a long time.
🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

It’s a regrettable situation as we start this new month.
We haven’t met our targets because they’re Very large and we don’t have enough people supporting us...
We have to pay or collect the dogs from the pensión, as they’re not willing to keep them without payment.
The same goes for the shelter; without payment, the owner doesn’t want us there, as it’s their source of income.
The vets are demanding payment so they can continue to treat our animals at their clinics, and what about the food?
No, they can’t give us any more credit either.
We’re defeated, with nothing left
Dogs who are hungry, without medicine, without medical care, without food and without shelter... I’m so sorry.
The dog in the video needs further medical attention, but we can't do that right now

One of the most shockingly underrated masterpieces of the Renaissance is Anthonis Mor’s portrait of Sir Thomas Gresham (c. 1560), now in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
When people see it today, especially in high-resolution pics, they often mistake it for a 19th-century photograph or even a hyper-realistic AI generation.
The skin texture, the eyes, the subtle sheen on the black fabric, make it feel almost disturbingly modern.
Yet this painting, created over 460 years ago, barely registers in the mainstream conversation about great art.
It deserves far more recognition.
