The Election Will Decide Whether Jerusalem Becomes Ankara 👇 A Line of State Strategic Essay in @Jerusalem_Post. “No Palestinian state” is a veto, not a doctrine. Israel’s next election must decide what comes after the veto. Annexation with full citizenship alters the Jewish state’s demography; annexation without political equality, its democracy; permanent Palestinian autonomy under overriding Israeli authority institutionalises chronic friction. Indecision is not neutrality. It chooses the third. Security is the condition: Hamas disarmed, Palestine demilitarised, enforcement resilient to hostile governments, institutional collapse and noncompliance. October 7 exposed the arithmetic: combat power cannot be allocated twice. On those terms, Palestinian statehood is not a gift, concession or reward. It is Israeli statecraft: enforceable separation, a sovereign border and strategic capacity concentrated on greater threats. Jerusalem is not Ankara. Not yet. Israel has not annexed the West Bank, superseded Oslo or created a separatist proxy state there. Ankara has spent half a century entrenching Cyprus’s partition and demanding that the world recognise two sovereign states. Their sovereign histories preclude equivalence. But the rule is the same. Military control, civilian settlement and time cannot confer sovereignty. History establishes belonging, not title. Time creates rights in people, not sovereignty in states. Neither a child born in Ariel nor one born in Kyrenia inherits guilt for a policy they did not choose. In Israel and Palestine, a negotiated sovereign border can create a Palestinian state beside Israel and end indefinite Israeli military authority. Cyprus requires the opposite sovereign outcome. The Republic already exists. Turkish Cypriots are native to Cyprus; their equality, security, identity and autonomy must be guaranteed. A second sovereignty would not resolve partition. It would ratify the partition Ankara’s army created. Nor can post-1974 demographic engineering acquire sovereignty through endurance. It must be unwound through substantial repatriation and resettlement, with humanitarian and family exceptions and no collective punishment. Ankara’s contradiction is explicit. In the Palestinian arena, it advocates two states while legitimising Hamas and sustaining the division that obstructs one. In Cyprus, it demands sovereignty for the partition its army created. Israel must do the reverse. In Palestine: secure a demilitarised sovereign state where two sovereignties are required. In Cyprus: Poseidon’s Wrath defines an Israeli-led intervention with partners to neutralise Turkish military infrastructure in the occupied north, terminate Ankara’s operational hold and restore the sovereignty of the Republic. Ένα σαφές μήνυμα από τη Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών: Ο Πρωθυπουργός Μπενιαμίν Νετανιάχου αναφέρθηκε στις απειλές που αντιμετωπίζει η περιοχή μας και δήλωσε ξεκάθαρα ότι ο Πρόεδρος Ερντογάν «απειλεί την Ελλάδα», κάνοντας παράλληλα λόγο για την τουρκική κατοχή στη βόρεια Κύπρο. Η Ελλάδα αποτελεί στενό και στρατηγικό εταίρο του Ισραήλ. Η ασφάλεια, η σταθερότητα και η ευημερία της Ελλάδας είναι σημαντικές για το Ισραήλ. Το Ισραήλ στέκεται στο πλευρό της Ελλάδας και μαζί θα συνεχίσουμε να εργαζόμαστε για την ασφάλεια και τη σταθερότητα στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο.
