Young men are dying in Delhi, and these are not just statistics for me. One of my own relatives lost his life. He was only 23 years old. 💔
Adulterated alcohol, alcohol-related accidents, drugs and addiction are destroying an entire generation and leaving families shattered.
Gutkha and khaini are openly sold, alcohol is widely available, and dangerous drugs like cocaine continue to threaten young lives. How much more of our generation must be lost before those in power wake up?
Shame on everyone who puts profit and political drama above human lives. To those who boast about welfare schemes and buy-one-get-one-free offers, look beyond your advertisements and political slogans. What is the point of promising welfare when families are mourning their young sons and struggling to cope with addiction and its consequences?
Stop treating everything as a business opportunity. You cannot promote consumption, collect revenue, neglect enforcement and then pretend to care about the people suffering the consequences.
The government must be held accountable for its responsibility to protect public health, enforce laws against adulterated liquor and drug trafficking, improve road safety, and prevent addiction. Responsibility also lies with those who manufacture, distribute and sell dangerous substances illegally.
And citizens must wake up, too. A few freebies, slogans and political spectacles cannot secure the future of our youth.
A 23-year-old’s death is not merely a family tragedy. It is a warning to society.
How many more young lives must be lost before the government, the authorities, the sellers and society as a whole stop making excuses and start taking responsibility? 💔
