I actually think it makes for a good twist though. I actually think her being the villain and not Carlton is something the audience takes a while to catch. She can bring down the whole family tbh, Uncle Phil included.
I think Michael Ealy was sleeping with young artists dangling that he'll get them "big" in the art world and it wouldn't happen. He has to go IMO!! In the real world, Viv would've slept with Michael Ealy tbh. The real issue is Phil doesn't pay her attention.

Frank Wilks is aunt Viv’s sister’s white husband! Instead of making him a white man in the new one, they made him a blue lives matter black cop with a white woman!! His wife that died is aunt Viv’s “best friend” but in the old show it would’ve been her sister!!!
