Aaron Sorkin's infamous Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted 20 years ago this fall. I talked with a group of contemporary comedy writers about why the show didn't work, but also why they're still obsessed with it: whatsalanwatching.com/anatom…

The "dark-skin" erasure claim is just a Trojan horse for FBA-erasure. We've always featured all shades of FBAs in our movies.

Yeah we have a distinct look and that includes DS BAs. Africans been trying hard to see if they can convince us that DS BAs and them "look the same." Which is why u had an african brush off ur original comment & act like africans should represent us because they DS.

No you idiot. If the dark skinned women aren't Black American they don't matter. That's my angle.

They want more dark skinned Africans who actually share their phenotype to be the face of Black Hollywood. That's all it is. When they put those lil collages together peep how many Black Americans are actually in them. This is a trojan horse conversation.
nobody with a brain will deny that black people perpetuate colorism but what was diahann carroll, cicely tyson, angela bassett, lupita, gabrielle union, tichina arnold, whitney houston, viola davis, nichelle nichols, leslie uggams, audra mcdonald etc then?

Look mayne. You can't say this not what they doing.
This is why I'm so strict when it comes to our image as black people because the darkskin erasure is getting out of hand, they're playing in our damn faces. It's to the point where if black representation in Hollywood does not look like THIS👇🏿, I will never be satisfied, IDGAF.

We're scared of males so I guess the fear is mutual.

I hope you have nightmares that drive you to insanity knowing you weren't born female and will never be no matter how much hrt or surgery you get access to. Male, the wrong organs, the wrong bone structure and build.
cis women's are trans women's oppressors, it only makes sens for us to have some hatred against them, it's okay for people to make vent/crude art to express their hatred of their oppressors, cis women do it all the time and you wouldn't judge them for it so why do you do it now ?

"I'm every type of Black/I'm every nigga" is fascism. The cultural fascism of these people is remarkable.

Define patriarchal control when you have no money and systemic power All you're gonna say is bioessentialism. This is about physicality

Do you think the lack of wealth nullifies a Man's to still excrise patriarchal control ?

What do you mean by safe? If that white woman kills him is she an oppressor? Why is men doing something to a woman oppression but all nuance thrown out the window. If I slap a Black man rn as a Black woman am I oppressing him? Or am I abusing him?
Replying to @iammarina_100
I hate that stupid ass argument too bc sure this hypothetical rich white landlady is presumably safe from this hypothetical poor black guy in Mississippi.. but what about the poor black women in Mississippi there with him? Are they safe? Or do we not care about them💀

15 American roles should go to 15 Americans. They can work British productions.

Show me the 2026 political candidates who have an agenda to combat gentrification, unemployment, poverty, mass incarceration, police violence, homelessness, anti-Black discrimination, and white supremacy. #VoteAccordingly

We should want them to do that. Bashing them for their mere existence isn't going to lead to that. Or are we gonna pretend left Black spaces are super welcoming to military personnel.
Y’all on here pretending most veterans bringing their military skills home to build up and protect Black communities again?

“Why don’t you want my opinion on your culture from the other side of the world?!”
Putting stan wars aside, why do some Black Americans resort to “you live in Nigeria or Africa”whenever an African has an opinion they disagree with? 😭 Does living in Africa suddenly invalidate my opinion? Does it make me less of a person? Or did God create you a different species that makes you inherently superior to me?

I don't wanna hear this shit from someone not in their own country. Its weak and pathetic. They need to go home and fight for change.
“black americans don’t have a country of their own” is such a weird flex knowing the country of your own is so shitty that you dream of going to a country that isn’t your own. what are you really saying lol

But you get mad at straight cis people playing lgbts lmfao.
very cool to see trans girls in roles where the character is not stated to be, and it isn’t like, a major plot point. it’s not something we see too often yet 🫀

People missing the point. I think Black Americans are realizing that “African ancestry” has been unnecessarily centered in our identity. It’s a cultural anchor tying us to ideas that never served us. Descendants or not, what relevance does it have to us now?
black Americans are still African descendants are we fucking okay???

Ignoring who the slave sellers in this situation are is funny gaslighting. No, I actually don't wanna be associated with slave sellers.
That's why I said they despise West Africa in particular, not only do they view West African history as 'uncivilized' & 'unimpressive', they ahbor the West African phenotype & find it hideous. They put horn Africans & Dominicans on a pedestal because of their racial ambiguity.
