A 2-year-old girl was thrown from a pickup truck during a crash on a bridge and landed in the cold water 25 feet below. At first she was floating on her back, but within seconds she rolled over and was face down in the bay. Jonathan Bauer was driving across the bridge with his daughter when he saw the crash and heard people screaming. He ran to the edge, saw the little girl below, took off his shoes and jumped roughly 25 feet into the water. Jonathan landed about 15 feet away, swam to her and pulled her onto his shoulder. She wasn’t responding, so he firmly tapped her back until she coughed up water and opened her eyes. A nearby pontoon boat helped get them to shore, and the little girl was airlifted to the hospital. She was released the next day, doing well. Jonathan didn’t know that child. He just saw a 2-year-old floating face down below a bridge and jumped in after her. So let’s share this story and give Jonathan the recognition he deserves. 💙
