motherhood, esp unwilling motherhood, in tvl/qotd is a theme i wish the show could explore more. there’s something there between gabrielle vs maharet and their (sometimes incestuous) relationships to their children/descendants conceived from rape
i love when louis dresses like an old man bc it feeds into my fantasy of him being my professor that i attempt to seduce except it doesn’t work for obvious reasons and he becomes like a surrogate father figure that gives me money and bad advice instead
it’s kinda sad how louis’ exploration of queerness is so strongly tied to lestat. even in paris when he had more freedom and becomes more confident in himself it’s clearly a reaction to his rship with lestat—literally running to and from lestat’s ghost
whenever people complain that lestat didn’t become a rockstar to protect louis i laugh because i totally predicted that and everyone called me stupid. jokes on me though bc the way they explored lestat’s motivations for the tour was boring af compared to the book
lestat’s association of the theater with goodness/happiness is crazy when you remember that the theater where he played lelio was taken over by vampires & eventually turned into a grave for claudia—who is representative of lestat’s capacity for evil in her own right
