I want to come to the defense of Buchanan here. He wasn't describing Card and Krueger! He was asked to comment on a Congressional Act!
Its true that you could think it would apply to Card and Krueger but he is not talking about them! He is talking about a legislative proposal.
In fact, Buchanan wrote a piece on national wage standardization that implicitly accepted the monopsony possibility (see image 2). He even has a 1981 AER article on monospony where the implicit is actually implicit (images 3 and 4).
Look, I agree that Buchanan was often mean to people for no reason (notably Jenny Roback), but in this instance he is actually innocent.

What is the point of college sports anyway?
94% of D-1 athletics programs ran a deficit in 2023-24. Even schools with large TV contracts suffer. Only 14 of 53 publicly reported Power 4 athletic depts covered expenses in 2024–25. The numbers are even worse today, as expenses have increased >$20 mil/yr with athlete comp.

Ce qui est tout de même délicieux, dans ces affaires d'IA et de plagiat, c'est la mise à nu du théâtre social qui entoure certains milieux bien tolérants envers le charlatanisme.
Une grande partie de l'équilibre existant repose sur la peur de passer pour un plouc (ou pire) si l'on rejette certains codes culturels. La machine, elle, s'en balance et passe le bullshit au broyeur. C'est salutaire.
