NEW: Climate activists couldn’t win a Green New Deal at the ballot box, so now they’re trying to impose it through woke lawfare in Suncor v. Boulder. As O.H. Skinner warns, a Boulder win could open the door to lawsuits targeting energy, autos, manufacturing, agriculture, and more. "The Supreme Court should make clear that Boulder’s effort to force societal change through litigation is unlawful and end this lawfare campaign once and for all."

Kudos to @BrennaBird and @mikehilgers for leading 17 Republican AGs to wipe out $662 MILLION in debt for more than 303,000 Snap Finance customers. Consumers get to keep their merchandise without owing another dime. That’s what real consumer protection looks like.

NEW: NYC’s attempt to punish energy companies through “greenwashing” claims just failed unanimously in court. But the broader climate lawfare campaign won't stop unless SCOTUS shuts it down in Suncor v. Boulder. As O.H. Skinner warns: “This ruling from New York is a reminder that the Left is in the midst of a multi-phase campaign to reshape our economy, and cripple the disfavored energy industry, by using every state court lawsuit imaginable.”

Blaming energy producers for bad weather doesn’t prove they caused it. But that’s the woke lawfare playbook: turn climate activism into courtroom payouts and leave consumers footing the bill. Consumers deserve better than a backdoor energy tax they never voted for.

WOKE LAWFARE: Climate activists tried to pin a man’s cancer on an energy producer. A Philadelphia jury rejected the claim. But one defeat won’t end the war on affordable energy. It’s the same playbook we’re seeing across the nation: bankrupt energy producers through litigation and raise costs on consumers in the process.

In Suncor v. Boulder, the Supreme Court has a chance to stop lawfare targeting energy producers once and for all. As O.H. Skinner put it: “Without the Court stepping in, progressive activists and their trial lawyer allies will continue to advance their woke lawfare campaign across the country.”

Slotkin just revealed the ultimate purpose of woke lawfare: overriding the will of voters. The Left's playbook is to ensure their policies are adopted no matter the cost. From climate lawsuits seeking to dictate energy policy to threats of prosecution meant to scare Americans out of public service, these Left-wing activists want to use the courts to impose the their agenda.
ON UCHICAGO CAMPUS: U.S. Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics. @ElissaSlotkin

Activist trial lawyers shouldn’t get a back door to push their agenda. Kudos to @AGIowa and 23 fellow AGs for demanding the National Judicial College cut ties with groups pushing climate lawfare through judicial “education.” Consumers deserve accountability.

.@ToddZywicki is right. Wealthy climate activists can afford their green agenda. Working families can’t. Woke lawfare would stick consumers with higher energy bills without a single vote. SCOTUS must shut it down in Suncor v. Boulder. Americans deserve affordable energy, not a carbon tax by lawsuit.
This is why the Suncor case at the Supreme Court matters so much--Billions of people around the world still live in poverty. It is estimated that 300,000-500,000 children die every year from the health effects of indoor fires for cooking and heat--wood, coal, and animal dung. Access to cleaner, more reliable energy is THE way the developed world escaped the poverty trap. The plaintiff jurisdiction the case is one of the wealthiest cities in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. And they admit the whole theory of the case is to impose a de facto carbon tax on the entire world via litigation in state court--thereby making energy even more expensive and less accessible for these poor people. If the plaintiffs succeed, in the US this means we will spend more money on gas. In many parts of the world, however, it means more poverty, more premature deaths for children, less mobility, and more deforestation (and the destruction of carbon sinks). And virtually no impact on emissions because manufacturing will simply shift to places like China--good luck suing them in Colorado district court and collecting.

Your home’s Wi-Fi shouldn’t be a welcome mat for foreign hackers. @AGIowa, @AGJamesUthmeier, @NEAttorneyGen & @MTAGKnudsen are suing TP-Link for allegedly misleading consumers about its security and China ties. Americans deserve protection. These AGs are stepping up.

NEW: Bucks County is suing energy companies over flooding. Climate activists couldn’t get their green agenda through legislatures or sell it at the ballot box. Now they’re using woke lawfare to impose it through the courts. These lawsuits will keep spreading nationwide unless SCOTUS draws the line in Suncor v. Boulder. Time to shut it down.

NEW: Suncor v. Boulder could open the floodgates to woke climate lawfare nationwide, threatening to bankrupt energy companies and send gas prices soaring. As O.H. Skinner explains, this is “an effort to get a backdoor carbon tax, because carbon taxes have never passed in Congress, or to bankrupt the energy industry.” The Supreme Court should shut it down before American consumers get stuck with the bill.

The woke climate agenda comes with a bill, and American families are expected to pay it. One analysis puts the cost of climate lawsuits and “polluters pay” schemes at nearly $1,500 per household annually. A backdoor carbon tax is still a tax. Consumers deserve better.
