Burnham's glib promise of free social care will cost us a minimum of £34billion on top of the existing spend of around £30bn. Thats either £34bn in cuts to other services like policing, defence, schools or else £34bn in tax rises - 5 points extra on income tax. All to provide for less than 10% of the population who require residential social care. Most people have the resources to fund their own care. Workers shouldn't be paying taxes so my son inherits all my housing wealth.

Nice try.

Latest More in Common MRP poll has Labour winning 250 seats in a GE and losing their majority. There are currently 403 Labour MPs, so that's 153 Labour MPs who may well lose their seats. How well do you think the Labour party would take that?
Andy Burnham is literally sitting in the TV studios talking about what will be in his next election manifesto. And people are seriously still saying "oh, but there's no election coming for another 3 years".

Having never spent £295 on a pair of jeans I'm curious if the increase in quality compared to a £30 pair is ten times greater, or if there is a trailing off in increased quality as the price rises. Does anyone know?

So he is going to fight an election on tax rises, whenever it may be. I'm not sure his time as Manchester mayor has sharpened his political instincts.
NEW: Burnham confirms he will fight the next general election on tax rises to pay for a national social care service that is free at the point of use

I'm not sure Burnham's chummy best mates TikTok persona is really going to survive the real world problems he will be encountering as PM.

Ok so, Burnham hopes that the welfare bill will some how go down, while intending to raise taxes for social care. This is his ten year plan.

This bizarre article appears to be an attempt to guilt trip customers into carrying on going to the nail bar even though they have realised that fake nails are more a problem than a beauty enhancement.

Britain supposedly had 0.4% growth in the last quarter. But when you look closely, says David Craig, it's clear this 'growth' all came from government borrowing and the real economy is already in deep recession. dailysceptic.org/2026/09/26/…

One thing the @BBC really does need to reform is the absolute shower that is the @BBCNews website and associated social media. This is the most absurd story ever and it demeans the BBC to be reporting as "news" that going without nail varnish is (apparently) classist and racist.

He used his British passport to travel to Hamas allies Turkey and Qatar. He delivered guns from Berlin to Vienna and did a pre-recorded video where claimed responsibility for the planned Islamist attacks on the continent. HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE LIKE THIS ARE IN BRITAIN?!
Britain gave asylum to the bodyguard of Hamas’ leader. He is a jihadi with a history of gun & gold smuggling. Then he plotted huge Islamist terror attacks across Europe. And THEN we gave him anonymity for 100 years to protect him (The Times have quashed this). We. Are. Doomed.

It is weird seeing people describe this story as “insane”, “crazy” and “bonkers”. Sorry, but have all of you on X been living under a rock? This is how the asylum system works. It is a feature, not a bug. Our system is built around abstract “human rights” claims, rather than the demographic or security preferences of the people who live here.

Everything about this story shows how screwed up state decision-making seems to be: "At the time he was awarded refugee status, it was public knowledge that:" he'd worked for the son of a senior Hamas official & had been arrested in Egypt for operating a tunnel allegedly used to smuggle firearms and gold into Gaza...Yet he was granted sanctuary & operated under deep cover as an IT consultant living in the suburbs. He changed his legal name more than once but was "not thought to have been a priority for the British security services as he began co-ordinating with Hamas terrorists on the Continent" .Oh, and a judge granted him anonymity for 100 years, only amended after it was queried by The Sunday Times.
