There is not, has never been, nor could there ever possibly be, a truck driver shortage in the US. We issue over 500,000 CDLs each year. The problem is, and has always been, high turnover.
The 80k number is a long-debunked talking point put out by industry lobbyists.
Really? Is that why we have 60k - 80k driver vacancies in the US? Is that why Trump and Duffy had to offer to fast track CDL licenses for Veterans?
