Like young people who wake up every day to a city that isn't working for them and who refuse to accept it. Twice in recent weeks, Obafemi Hamzat and the APC have given us insight into how they see you. In August: can't afford rent? Move back in with your parents. This week: Lagos traffic is "not a problem, it's just a lifestyle." Daily soul-crushing traffic is not a lifestyle. It is governance failure. Vast numbers of Lagosians leave home before 5am and get back after their children are asleep. They lose hours of work, money on fuel and fares, time, health and wellbeing they will never get back. That is a cost to every household and every business in this state. Housing, public transportation and traffic are closely related problems. You cannot fix one without planning for the others. But the first step to fixing them is to acknowledge them. This government has ignored the pains of Lagosians for years. This is just the latest example. Lagos needs a government that acknowledges problems and uses its resources to solve them, not one that celebrates them. Inefficiency is not culture, it’s failure FD #OTiya

Political parties are ultimately about people and structure, not just names or labels. In my conversation with Jimi Disu on the Timeless Podcast, one of the issues we discussed is the NDC, its relatively young political identity, and how we approach the journey ahead. Administratively, a party may be new. But the people within it are not new to politics, public service, or the work of building a movement. Many of us have come together with a shared sense of purpose, and that collective spirit remains at the heart of what we are building. I believe that if you want to govern a place, you must first identify with it, understand its roots, its journey, and the experiences of its people. I am a Lagosian, born and raised here, shaped by this city, its people, its history. So, for me, this connection creates not just a sense of ownership, but a sense of responsibility for improving the community I seek to serve and the lives of the people who live here After 30 years in the private sector, I made the decision to move into public service because I believe my experience, my understanding of Lagos, and my commitment can be devoted to builing a better Lagos, one where opportunity, dignity and a good quality of life are not reserved for a few. Yesterday, I joined His Excellency, @PeterObi, at the Final Follow-Up Clinic and Appreciation Programme where we gathered to celebrate a remarkable act of service and compassion. I celebrate and commend an extraordinary woman, Dr. Folaseye Adebayo @DrFolaseye, an ENT Surgeon and NDC House of Representatives Candidate in Surulere, for conceiving, initiating and leading this programme, as a way to mark HE Peter Obi’s 65th birthday. This innovative act of service, follows through on a commitment that has touched the lives of 65 young children and their families. Taking on the responsibility of organizing, arranging, fundraising and performing 65 free surgeries was a significant undertaking, and one that required expertise, compassion, and a deep commitment to working with others to improve lives. I appreciate the entire medical team, nurses, health workers, facility providers and volunteers who contributed their time, skills, and resources towards restoring hope and improving the lives of these patients. Their dedication is a reminder of the impact we can create when we place service and humanity at the centre of what we do. A life of service is truly a life of impact. FD Ó ti yá.

Yesterday, I joined some fellow NDC Governorship candidates and a number of other key stakeholders in a rich and purposeful engagement with HE Peter Obi and HE Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Our discussions touched on a number or areas including the on-going campaigns and recent developments within the party.

Over the weekend, I sat down with leaders from the OK Movement and Kwankwasiyya communities in Lagos to engage on the road to 2027 and the Lagos we need to build. Some hard questions were asked and unfiltered truths told. In the end, we affirmed that If Lagos did it in 2023, we can do it again. Once we decide enough is enough and that we want something different. One moment stayed with me. Someone asked: They have all the power, and the money, what do we have? And someone else answered: We have our thumbs! Never forget that we have a choice. And that choice is the power to elect a government that works for every Lagosian. Every Nigerian. Not because we're promised. But because we show up and demand it. FD Ó TI YÁ.

Yesterday evening, I joined the National Leader, Sen. Seriake Dickson and our Presidential Candidate, HE Mr. Peter Obi in an interactive engagement with some stakeholders from Lagos State. We held rich discussions regarding the upcoming elections generally and, in particular, Lagos State. Last Saturday, I joined the Naira Life Conference @zikokomoney by @Zikokomag for a fireside chat on a question we often overlook: What happens when active work life ends? We explored the importance of building financial security beyond a career, how to prepare for financial independence, create a future with purpose, and make the decisions today; that shape the life we want tomorrow. It was a meaningful conversation, made even more valuable by the questions, reflections, and perspectives shared during the Q&A session. I appreciated the opportunity to engage with attendees, share lessons from my own journey, and learn from their own experiences and aspirations. It was a profound privilege to engage with the leadership and dedicated members of our great NDC family in Alimosho LGA; ward chairmen and secretaries, youth leaders, women leaders, and our committed LGA executives. I shared a bit of my journey, the experiences that have shaped me, and the conviction that led me to answer the call of public service. More importantly, I laid out my vision for a Lagos that truly works for all: a Lagos anchored in competence, accountability, and genuine, people-centered service. I am deeply grateful for the warmth, the enthusiasm, and the openness with which I was received. The thoughtful questions, the honest conversations, and the opportunity to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the people who are the lifeblood of this great state. The Lagos we want will not be built by one person. It will be built through partnership; with the communities, the leaders, and every resident who is invested in the service of our people. *Osun: Democracy Wins* Congratulations again to the great people of Osun State on the outcome of their governorship election, and to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election. What we carry with us from Osun is not just a result — it is what the people refused to accept. The youths who stood their ground. The citizens who would not be moved by fear, intimidation, or the threat of violence. People who understood, in the most visceral way, that their vote is not just a piece of paper, it is their power. And they protected it. Indeed, you have shown what is possible when people participate, turn up, cast their votes, and remain determined to see their choices respected. Over 1.9 million votes were cast from more than 2.3 million registered voters. Imagine the impact a 50% turnout could make. We have also seen what happens when a lot of us choose indifference. In Lagos 2023 election, over 7 million Lagosians were registered to vote. Only about 1.17 million showed up, a turnout of barely 16% that only made it easier for choices to be made on behalf of many by a relative few. Beyond this election, Osun has given us something even more important — a reminder that power ultimately belongs to the people, and that positive change is not only possible, it is within our power. I encourage us all to show up, remain engaged, protect your vote and stand firmly for your choice. Because together, we can build a democracy where every where every lawful vote is respected, and where the choice of the people always prevails. FD Ó ti yá.

For all the Saints who from their labours rest... Today, as we mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic loss of Engr. Funso Williams, a great icon, Omo Eko Pataki, Omoluabi Eko, we remember a statesman of rare competence, deep integrity, and unflinching commitment to public service. Lagos has not forgotten the visionary leader, the meticulous technocrat, and the quintessential gentleman whose life was cut short in the prime of his service to our people. He approached governance not as a platform for self-aggrandizement, but as a sacred duty to build a state driven by structural planning, accountability, and genuine care for the ordinary citizen. Twenty years later, the values he stood for; peaceful politics, transparency, and true accountability, still inspire everyone fighting for a better Lagos. Lagos has a 2026 budget of over ₦4.4 trillion. Last year it was N3.3 trillion and so it goes on and on, year after year. Yet Lagos State public schools are recording very high failure rates, public transportation is dysfunctional and chaotic, public water supply almost nonexistent, and there is widespread and worsening flooding, piled-up garbage on our streets and other serious environmental alarm bells. Housing is unattainable, unaffordable and in woefully short supply for most Lagosians. Many are asking the same question: are these the governance outcomes Lagos deserves? Last week, I met with @NDC_Lagos Local Government Party Chairmen. We had honest and practical conversations about the harsh realities our communities face, the gaps in the current system, and, most importantly, what we must do differently if we are to build a Lagos that truly works for everyone. In this quest, one statistic stands out starkly. More than 7 million Lagosians are registered to vote, yet only about 1m (roughly 15%) participated in the last election. That is not simply voter apathy. It is the result of years of disappointment and a growing belief that their voices do not matter. We intend to change that. The great improvement that we expect to deliver in the living standards of Lagosians will not come from slogans or propaganda. It will take thoughtful planning and competent, compassionate leadership that is deeply committed to governing well and using the resources of Lagos to solve the everyday problems that affect the lives of millions of Lagosians.
