regionals are so exhausting as a woman. even when it’s not horrifyingly direct stuff such as this, it’s constantly being talked down to by opponents, being infantilised, players’ tantrums when losing etc. idk anymore if it’s even fixable, patriarchy is everywhere
Pokemon is still so far from a safe space for women its so sad.
We do better than most communities to break down these barriers buts so disgusting how little respect we receive sometimes.
A friend of mine went to her first regional today in Frankfurt and I went to bed so excited for her. Only to wake up and be told that her second round opponent called her a prostitute in German after she greeted and spoke to him in English.
He seemingly assumed she didn't speak German, and felt comfortable enough to be misogynistic as a result.
Be better than this Pokemon community.

What a surreal weekend. I ran into a friend I haven't seen in 17 years. My mom's former student (also Adi) started 8-1 at his first regional. And I got 2nd place at the biggest regional ever with Golisopod!? Will talk more about the run on Tub Takes Tuesday and team report soon!
