The New York Times today, Ellen Kurz Stands TALL for Democracy again as she lays out why Secretary of State races matter and what’s at stake for protecting our elections from partisan interference.

The Supreme Court just opened the door for the Trump administration to build a federal database of Americans’ personal information to target voter rolls. As Secretary of State, I’ll Stand TALL to protect Michiganders’ data and make sure no eligible voter loses their voice.

In the Detroit Free Press today: My plan to Stand TALL against money in politics

Today, my Stand TALL agenda drops: shining light on the money in our politics to make our campaign finance laws and government work for every Michigander.

A Wayne State student told me a Michigan auto shop scammed him out of $2,000. As Secretary of State, I’ll hold bad actors accountable and protect Michiganders from getting ripped off when they get their cars fixed.

As America’s only statewide elected software developer, I know how to protect data and information. We must protect Michiganders’ personal information from an administration who wants to access it or use it to target people. Your data belongs to you. And as Secretary of State, I’ll fight to keep it that way.

To everyone in Michigan observing Yom Kippur, I wish you a meaningful and peaceful day of reflection, atonement, and renewal. May this day bring you and your loved ones peace, strength, and a renewed commitment to building a better future together. G’mar Chatima Tova.

Honored to join the Sikh community to celebrate Sikh heritage, culture, and the incredible contributions Sikh Michiganders make to our state.

Threats of violence and talk of “the gallows” have absolutely no place in our politics or anywhere in Michigan. No matter where it comes from, this kind of rhetoric is dangerous and it has to stop now.

So many people feel like big corporations and the richest people have all the power in politics. I understand why. But we have something that is more powerful when we use it: our vote. We need to show up and prove that the power still belongs to the people.

The Department of Homeland Security’s telling “Mr. Singh” to “get off our roads” and “self-deport” is appalling. “Singh” is one of the most common Sikh surnames, and this is a clear and disgusting attack on the Sikh community.  This kind of racial and religious stereotyping has no place in Michigan or America. As Secretary of State, I will Stand TALL with our Sikh neighbors, protect the rights of every Michigangers, and will work to build a government that ensures everyone in our state knows they belong in our communities.

The attacks on our voting methods are nothing more than confusion and fear mongering. This year, vote to defeat those who are attacking voting. And remember: Michigan’s voting laws have not changed.

This November, and every opportunity going forward, we need to vote like our lives depend on it.

I’ve made more trips to the U.P. as Lieutenant Governor than any other statewide elected official. I’ll keep showing up because Yoopers’ voices matter.

Michigan voters are fortunate that this terrible executive order was rejected by the Supreme Court, but we should all be clear about the stakes. This executive order would make it harder for millions of Michiganders to cast a ballot by mail and put the Trump Administration in charge of determining who gets a ballot and who does not. I’m proud to always put Michigan voters first, while Anthony Forlini can’t be bothered to say who won the 2020 election because he puts politics and Donald Trump ahead of what is best for Michigan.
