Marimo Python Notebooks is next up on @geospatialfm! Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/4m3… YouTube: m.youtube.com/watch?v=A_TAoR… Substack: open.substack.com/pub/geospa… Lot of fun, really recommend a watch, a lot of it was a data analyst tutorial.

This is a picture of a pedestrian-signal box mangled by a car in front of an Atlanta elementary school. It's also a picture of the devil's bargain cities made by prioritizing cars: the loss of independence for kids, and the loss of a public realm that encourages walking.

World Labs headed to AMD for $8.2B. This acquisition makes so much sense in hindsight. AMD will be able to go toe to toe with NVIDIA, which has been building the full stack for physical AI - from world foundation models like Cosmos to 3D simulation engines like Omniverse. World Labs gets deep pockets for the data and compute it needs to scale. Strong validation signal for the entire spatial intelligence / world models category. Clearly the chip makers view it as the next big workload.
We are excited to announce that World Labs is joining @AMD. The research and technical breakthroughs we have achieved since our founding in 2024 have given us a clear vision for AI’s potential to solve problems in the spatial and physical world. Accelerating the future of spatial and physical intelligence requires scaling our efforts, scaling our reach, and getting closer to the hardware.

The financial advisors are crying. Buy their stock
The chief economist at Apollo is warning that mass adoption of AI agents could trigger a bank run as they optimize user investments. Gary Gensler spent his last few years as SEC chair warning that the exact same problem will hit the markets: the pursuit of algorithmic perfection at scale destroys system stability. Personal-finance agents making simultaneous optimal decisions could potentially cause a massive flash crash. Agent acausal coordination, with no messages passed between them, will show up in a lot of places. Markets will get the big headlines, but huge numbers of clever advisors making very similar choices will impact all of human society. Capability gains make this worse, not better. The smarter the agents, the narrower the optimal path; and knowing that other agents see that exact same path lets them move together without talking to each other. Agents do not need to collude to act in unison. Thus, they break no human laws by doing so. Human laws were not written for this. They were not written for a lot of what is coming, and it is about to start happening very fast.

Excellence in geospatial
The classic Racial Dot Map inspired me and a whole generation of mapmakers. Today, I'm publishing a modern take on this map, built with the geospatial tools I've been developing over the past decade. Explore race / ethnicity in the US three different ways: - The classic dot map, with all 331 million Americans represented when fully zoomed in; - H3 hexagons that transition on zoom, color-coded by the most common group in the hexagon; - Donut chart clusters that break into smaller clusters, and eventually individual dots, when you zoom in. Interact with the map here: walker-data.com/maps/census-…

So mad. @bilawalsidhu is doing what we all will in 20 years: reality authoring.
It's mind bending walking around the same place simultaneously in two timelines Inside the frame it's winter, and outside the frame it's summer - until you step inside. Recorded this footage in the winter and localized it against a massive 3d scan of the same ranch in the summer. You can follow the camera from the outside, then step into the moment I recorded. We spend so much time looking at memories through 2d rectangles in our camera roll. It's a strange feeling to walk around one instead. Like navigating through space instead of scrolling through time. The geospatial memory palace continues to come to life!

From Claude: The whole city is a running simulation — 200k people, each with a job, a home, a schedule, needs and a memory. Code handles the physics: pathfinding, traffic, who can see or hear what. Jev is the decision layer on top: every time someone needs to choose what to do next, code lists the options that are actually feasible for them and Jev picks the one that person would realistically take, given their dossier and what they know right now. That's the whole loop — no free text, just typed choices, thousands of them a second.
