RCCG is trending today because a group of FCT youths just publicly rejected an event billed as an “RCCG Youth Political Summit.”
They say the church’s name, logo, and “Directorate of Politics and Governance” are being used to platform APC figures and sell Tinubu — while the church has spent years insisting it is politically neutral.
This is the interesting part: RCCG keeps getting pulled into politics even when its official line is “we are not a party church.” First Lady Remi Tinubu is an ordained pastor. Adeboye has had to issue clarifications on protests, endorsements, and now internal structure because of new FRC tenure rules.
The youth statement is basically saying: civic education is fine. Turning a church programme into a campaign stop is not.
If RCCG wants to stay a national church rather than a factional one, this is the tension it has to resolve. Neutrality only works if the branding matches the guest list.
