THE MOST-WATCHED SNL SKETCH ISN'T MORE COWBELL.
IT'S “PORN TEACHER.”
That sounds almost like a joke by itself.
The sketch aired in 2015, with Amy Schumer playing a woman filming an adult movie while Kyle Mooney plays her scene partner.
Then Aidy Bryant walks in.
She's playing a completely oblivious student who genuinely believes she's interrupting an ordinary teacher after class.
That's where the sketch finds its engine.
Everyone except Bryant understands what's happening.
Bryant's character doesn't.
And instead of simply making the situation more outrageous, SNL keeps letting her innocent questions collide with what the audience already knows.
The strange part is what happened afterward.
The sketch became the most-viewed video on SNL's official YouTube channel, passing 100 million views and even surpassing sketches that had become cultural classics long before YouTube existed.
That makes the sketch more interesting than its title suggests.
The premise got people to click.
The comedy gave them a reason to stay.
