It is nice to see the gaming industry booming in Nigeria. Maybe some other African countries might start pushing out some games too

The more I build, the more I realise there are 2 key sets of numbers that need to be tracked at least monthly: 1. Financial numbers 2. Product validation numbers Not because these are new things people don't know, but because they actually have to be tracked together...

This is just a summary, but even after building businesses before, I've still found myself prioritising one over the other. You might think that because customers keep paying, your business is healthy,

or that your product is properly validated, meaning you can consistently and repeatably onboard and activate customers. That's not always the case.

This is a very profound interview. Well done 👏
Over 1 million players in 3 days! I asked @Shalom_HeyEliy how it happened for Lagos Life, what broke, and if she’s selling for $100,000.

First, this is some incredible work. The pace of update is such a great example of what modern software production can look like. Second, I have a really unique base of SF + Nigeria followers and they're each ships passing through the night: I see multiple posts on Naija Twitter saying this would have been a sensation if it was build out of the Valley. About 2 months ago, we had a digital twin project go viral, made by @cdngdev. (on 5.6-sol) x.com/cdngdev/status/2091909… It went viral for a few days and it subsided. Here's the chart of that spike: x.com/cdngdev/status/2102602… LagosLife is obviously much deeper (building out a full Sims-like experience vs. the GTA-like nature of the SF digital twin) and its userbase is much more engaged. It's surely built alongside a newer, Astra/Opus5.5 level model. I think the Labs should be *extremely* excited about something like this. It shows how much deeper a concept can go in frontier markets using their tools vs. the "awesome project" nature of what they saw in the US. The empowerment of technically-capable creators is global - market context is what changes it into something potentially commercial. Only time will tell if LagosLife sees a similar spike and fall like the SF project, but the absolute virality is something worth paying attention to. Again, huge congrats to the monumental work (and ship speed) of @Shalom_HeyEliy + her agents.

If you want to see how much of an hustler Nigerians are, just let one thing go viral, you would see several people building several variations of it.

This is insane. AI is gone
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Community note
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

🚨 META JUST UNVEILED THE VR GLASSES 100 grams on your face - about the weight of a deck of cards. Meta says it has “the best display system that we have ever made,” and people in the demo were literally saying “it is like a computer” and “you could edit a whole movie just using the table.” As Mark explained this is cinema, computer, and a game console all in one, with 3D space, virtual screens, hand occlusion, and DisplayPort over USB-C. James Cameron’s reaction is probably the best quote in the whole segment “I’m inspired by what you’ve created. I’d like to see my work in these glasses.” I am completely one shotted these look amazing!
Omg Meta Cooked beyond belief on hardware I’m in awe

Today, we’re launching an ambitious new school called The Horowitz Andreessen Academy. Based in San Francisco, The Academy serves the most promising young high school graduates. We think this can be an elite institution that attracts top tier talent. One that prepares students for the future rather than remaining stuck in the past. The #1 goal is to help students learn to build, which is the most important skill in the AI era. They'll learn primarily by pursuing their own projects, either individually or in groups. There are classes and guest lectures, too, from some truly amazing people who have built modern-day Silicon Valley. The Academy is designed as a network, since that’s the reason students go to school in the first place. Core to that network are our 10 Founding Partners: Anduril, Anthropic, Coinbase, Google, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Palantir, Replit, and Stripe. The network includes over 50 hiring partners and over 200 speakers and mentors. To join as a hiring partner or faculty member, you can apply on our website. We raised $42M in funding led by @a16z. I'll be CEO and @pmarca and @eriktorenberg will join me on the board. Applications are open for our Founding Class Fellowship, which will be one year and tuition-free. Eventually, pending regulatory approval, we plan to offer a two-year program that charges tuition, similar in cost to an elite private university. We're looking for the most unusually ambitious young builders on the planet. Come join us in San Francisco: theacademysf.com/
