Mate, I tried not to use an AI grammar or spell checker😉 As Sun Tzu said, "He who occupies the field first and awaits the enemy is at ease; he who comes later to the scene and rushes into the fight is weary." You can quote Sun Tzu all you like, but dressing a one-sided rant up with a famous quote doesn’t automatically make it more believable. What you have managed to do here is  write an essay about Drumcree without once seriously acknowledging why the Garvaghy Road became an issue in the first place. People who lived on the Garvaghy Road remember what happened, but you and others have completely dismissed them, please save us the inevitable, yes but " but Sinn Féin" ...................... They remember being hemmed into their own community while a march they didn’t want was forced through. They remember the violence surrounding Drumcree, the riots, intimidation, and years of tension. That history doesn’t disappear because you’ve decided 2026 should be remembered as the year the Orange Order became the victim. You also might want to spare us the lecture about unionism’s newfound devotion to the “rule of law”. Plenty of us are old enough to remember when decisions unionism and loyalism didn’t like were met with protests, roadblocks and absolute mayhem in the streets. We remember Drumcree in the 90s. We remember the violence when Orange marches were restricted. We remember what happened when loyalism decided the law was unacceptable. So this sudden conversion to absolute rule of law shite to every legal decision is a bit hard to swallow, especially as its newly found and given that we haven't seen it before, makes it a bit harder to believeAs for your claim that unionism has shown nothing but “restraint, responsibility and reasonableness”, are you for real? have you actually been online this past week? Some of the language directed at Garvaghy residents, nationalists and the First Minister has been poisonous. People have been called mobs, Nazis, supremacists and worse. There have been calls for loyalists to mobilise in Portadown. Yet somehow none of that makes it into your view on whats occured . Funny that. And this idea that thousands of nationalists turned up because Sinn Féin ordered them to is probably the biggest misunderstanding in your whole post.Maybe, just maybe, people are just feckin fed up, exhausted with the tirade of online gaslighting from people like your good self, trying to sanitise this whole thing and doing nothing but putting yourself at the forefront for clicks and applause from your merry men of online bigots. Fed up being told that equality means accepting something simply because the Orange Order calls it tradition. Fed up being lectured about respect by people who seem to think respect only travels in one direction. Fed up hearing that saying “no” to a parade through your own community amounts to hatred of Protestants.I'm a nationalist. I don't hate Protestants. I don't hate unionists. I don't hate the Orange tradition. But neither do I believe an Orange sash gives somebody a greater right to a road than the people who actually live on it.That's the bit you still don't seem to understand. And if your argument for the Union is now basically “look what these pesky nationalists will do to you in a united Ireland”, perhaps you should ask yourself why equality feels so threatening. Nobody is asking unionists to disappear. Nobody is asking Protestants to abandon their identity. Nobody is stopping the Orange Order existing. A community said they didn't want this parade coming through their area. Twenty-eight years later, you're still struggling with the fact that they are entitled to have a voice.Maybe the mask that slipped wasn't nationalism's at all, it was people like you and your community who were seriously unprepared for what equality actually looked like.  Another very valid point here Moore, what were unionist politicians doing for the last 30 years? Your grievance really should be with them, they were aware that they would have to finally share this place, thats not because of demographics, thats because nationalism would inevitably be able to challenge decisions and finally be able to stand up and say, NO, so what preparation did they make in your community?, preparing for an inevitable change, they have done absolutely nothing, not sure if that's arrogance or simply just plain bad leadership, but your argument should be with them because they have ultimately failed you.

Jamie Bryson’s security plea for Drumcree isn't new; it's a rerun. In 2024, he beat a red-light ticket by claiming he was under active threat and being chased. He’s used the "imminent danger" card for years—next, he’ll claim he needs protection from his own shadow!

He also said: "He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight." A blind man on a galloping horse would have seen the seismic own goal in trying to force sectarian marches through Catholic areas in 2026 was a lose-lose scenario.
Sinn Féin’s overreaction to Drumcree is a perfect example of Sun Tzu’s principle: “Appear strong when you are weak.” The parading dispute has left the Republican party totally and utterly exposed. A week ago the Parades Commission gave a painstakingly balanced, considered and sensitive determination. After weeks of deliberation, hearing and receiving submissions from all parties, they ruled in favour of the historic Drumcree procession m. When legally challenged, Orangemen secured their human rights in the courts. What was Sinn Féin’s reaction? How did republicanism respond to the first ruling that went against them in 28 years? By blocking roads, openly defying the law and inciting a toxic display of hate and sectarianism against their fellow citizens. Above everything else, that is how Drumcree ’26 will be remembered. Sure, it will all pay off for Sinn Féin in the short term. It will give them a boost in next year’s election. But the display of sectarian bile and brazen disregard for the rule of law won’t be easily forgotten and will undoubtedly come at a cost in the long term. Sinn Féin’s outward reputation, which they take such care to cultivate, is in tatters. Most citizens, even those sympathetic to the sensitivities of Garvaghy residents, will be dismayed that the First Minister of Northern Ireland sees no problem with flagrantly flouting the law. Further still, the Sinn Féin ‘charm offensive’ is now dead and buried. Buried beneath the rubble of a reckless barrage of demeaning and demonising language against the heritage and tradition of their unionist neighbours. All the honeyed words are but a distant memory, and the promise of a ‘New Ireland’ built on respect and equality is expired for at least a generation. Sinn Fein’s language, attitude and behaviour over Drumcree will serve as a constant reminder of what awaits unionists in any future constitutional settlement. It will be held up, again and again, as a continuous example of who Sinn Féin really are; a display of their authentic self, showing their true colours. This is what people mean when saying “the mask has slipped.” Knowing all of this, Sinn Féin have chosen to put on a week of performative theatre. “Appearing strong,” as it were, by using every aspect of campaign infrastructure to project strength in the face of such a dead end. They mobilised as many as they could from right across the island onto Garvaghy Road, holding rallies alongside all shades of nationalism. They produced multiple campaign-style videos and pulled every lever of influence they have available, such as US, EU and even UK political interventions. They even co-ordinated a ‘Protestant’ letter of support and rolled Kneecap into town. Yesterday, a series of celebrity endorsements (which weren’t quite endorsements) were also published. It is all a bit of a fever dream. A carnival campaign of insecurity and intolerance inspired by a party desperate to shift attention away from their governmental incompetence onto a stoked up sectarian dogfight. In truth, the real residents of Garvaghy Road are being exploited by Sinn Féin. Any actual fear or concern about a procession has been hijacked and turned into a platform to launch Sinn Féin’s election campaign, with no actual regard for local impact or consequences. By contrast, if the Orange Order wanted to put thousands in Edgarstown tomorrow, in support of the Portadown District, it could. There are c. 40,000 members of the Orange Order in Northern Ireland alone. If loyalists wanted to gather in their thousands, they could as well. Instead, unionism has shown restraint, responsibility and reasonableness. Not seeking to escalate or make a tense situation worse. Confident in the law, sincere in wanting to find a resolution, but also not exploiting people for their own electoral ends. Sinn Fein have built a campaign based on division, and no matter how they may try to spin it, it won’t be easily forgotten.

Oh, the irony is even richer now. You run an account called @VintageUVF, explicitly dedicated to archiving and displaying the Ulster Volunteer Force, yet you’ve appointed yourself the moral guardian of how other people mention Northern Ireland’s dead. I mentioned the Quinn children, Rosemary Nelson and Frankie O’Reilly because we were discussing Drumcree and the violence surrounding that period. That’s historical context, not point-scoring. You, meanwhile, devote an entire account to imagery and history associated with an organisation responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people during the Troubles. So perhaps @VintageUVF isn’t quite the account from which to deliver sanctimonious posts about exploiting NI’s dead. Remembering victims in their historical context isn’t disrespectful. Pretending that history can be discussed while inconvenient victims are edited out of it is.

People in the North are our neighbours, and fellow citizens - not an “obsession”. An inclusive Ireland embraces everyone on this island, nationalist, unionist or neither. Mary Kenny’s little-Irelander sneering mistakes a shrunken sense of nationhood for sophistication. 🙄
For years, for decades, Dev’s Irish Press was obsessed with Partition and the North. It became a government policy to mention it at every international gathering - known as “The Sore Thumb Strategy”. It was ineffective. Leo knows no history, methinks.

The UUP, DUP & TUV are abusing their NI Executive positions & Stormont for pure theatre to punch down on others. Which is bringing zero actual results or improvements to NI. Nothing will come from these theatrics. They are just vain & pathetic attempts to win some votes. 1/2

NOLBERTO SOLANO on his first proper drinking session with Newcastle teammates Steve Howey and Duncan Ferguson: “They called themselves ‘The Heavyweights’. They said, ‘Hey, little Peruvian, want to come for a pint?’ Of course, why not? I’m sociable. “In Peru, the tradition is that you get a bottle of beer and share it with everyone in little glasses. Here, we went to the Pitcher and Piano. We were only there for about 45 minutes and it was bang, bang, bang with the pints. “We went to the next bar, then the next. At one point they bought some whisky and I was saying, ‘No, no, no, no, no mixing. Only beer.’ “I was mullered. We came out of the bar, I didn’t know where I was, it was dark and my watch said four o’clock. I rang my wife to apologise and said, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t realise it was so late.’ “She said, ‘What are you talking about?’ “I thought it was four in the morning. It was four in the afternoon.” Quite the introduction to English football.

Fintan O’Toole’s journey from radical to ivory-tower moraliser is complete. Reducing rights versus supremacy to “competitive victimhood” blurs the distinction his analysis should explain. No wonder he’s a Bono fan - lofty sermons, far from the ground. Bono without the music.
Fintan O’Toole writes in the Irish Times (6/10) that it is ludicrous and offensive for the Garvahy Rd residents to invoke Gaza and apartheid. It’s all performative self-dramatisation - the Orange Order is a spent force. And they’re ludicrous too.

Solidarity always with the Garvaghy Road residents and community. Solidarity against bigotry and sectarianism. Solidarity for peace and social justice 🤝👏👏👏🕊️
WOW! 👏🏼 Oasis’s Noel Gallagher Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon founder of The Smiths Johnny Marr legend of music Paul Weller And actors Siobhán McSweeney and Adrian Dunbar Have all put their names to a letter supporting the right of Garvaghy Road residents to live in peace free from intimidation. The celebrities have called for the Garvaghy Road community to be protected from any form of forced march. The full list of signatories includes some of the biggest names in music, film and the arts. Support for the Garvaghy Road community continues to grow across Ireland and around the world. The British Secretary of State needs to end this unwanted march now. 28 years of peace must be protected. No going back. Not now. Not ever.
