Coastal impacts remain the BIG story: moderate to pockets of MAJOR coastal flooding, 50–60+ mph wind gusts along exposed shorelines, significant beach erosion, and dangerous surf. Long Island and the Jersey Shore remain most vulnerable. Now we watch how the system responds and intensifies overnight. Here's what to expect today: 💨 A Wind Advisory starts at 2 p.m., with gusts of 40 to 50 mph that could bring down trees, limbs, and power lines. 🌧️ Rain moves in this afternoon and evening. It's the start of 2 to 3 inches through the weekend. 🌊 Coastal Flood Warnings begin at 6 p.m. for Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, with a Coastal Flood Advisory for Manhattan. Minor to locally moderate flooding is possible around tonight's high tide: about 7 to 8 p.m. on the south shore, and around midnight in the Bronx and northern Queens. Secure loose outdoor items and charge your devices now. If you park on a street that floods during coastal flooding, move your car before tonight's high tide. Never walk or drive through floodwater. ⚠️ STORM READY TO EXPLODE AS JET STREAM ENERGY INFUSES INTO THE SYSTEM... This is a very compelling picture this morning on water vapor. A powerful jet streak is entering the picture as the upper-level low and surface low begin to interact. The storm is primed to POP. As the system becomes vertically stacked (500mb, 200mb, and 1000mb lows align) we should begin to see pressures rapidly fall along the coast over the next several hours. EVENING NOR’EASTER UPDATE 🌊💨 Small changes remain possible, including a slight correction west. I’m still leaning heavily on the ensembles for subtle trends, and unfortunately, there’s still some room for this storm to nudge closer to the coast. If that happens, coastal impacts would become more significant, with stronger winds potentially reaching farther inland. UPDATE: The telecom lines have been repaired, and all airport operations in the Northeast are resuming. It will take some time to clear all existing delays, so please check with your airline for the latest information.

Contractor was on an NJ Transit project and accidentally cut fiber lines. NJT says 36 out of the 56 fiber cables are done. They should be coming back online shortly.  The rest should be done and tested shortly.
