Smart move, Canada! 🇨🇦 Mark Carney confirms Canada is reducing its reliance on Elon Musk’s Starlink. Because national security shouldn't depend on a billionaire's mood swings. 👏 cultmtl.com/2026/09/canada-c…

Any musk company can no longer be trusted. All contracts should be turned over to a company that the American can trust.

Good choice. Since "billionaire's mood swings" are so often and so awkward as if @elonmusk is using some substance

Starlink could be a huge global success. All @elonmusk had to do was focus on his business and stay out of politics.

Starlink opens the door to electoral manipulation and no country should use it

The ability to turn off weaponry and information is now being used regularly as a weapon. It means that trust is disappearing and new alliances will be formed to overcome the new era in America.

I am amazed how much power Elon Musk has in many nations and how dependent some nations are on Elon Musk's technologies, well you get what you pay.

Canada's other option just so happens to be one of Carneys pals. Yup, nothing to see here either. Everything Carney does seems to benefit him either directly or indirectly. Funny how that is

Great news. The rest of the world should do the same. Make starlink absolute.

That is what every should do drop Starlink because you don't know when a billionaire's cut it off.

Always boycott people like Musk, a delightful billionaire now unreliable for the tranquility of the planet. One of the greatest guilty of chaotic world situation

Canada is cooked. You have no idea. Telesat has been a repeatable failure since 1969. Elon has 11000 operational satellites. You have no idea how companies work. Your only care is politics. Love your recovery story. But recovery is not synonymous with business intelligence.

We have nothing even close and we won’t have anything even close to the technology starlink has. All we are doing is hurting our own country and Musk couldn’t care less if we walk away, why would he? Doesn’t hurt his business really, it’s doing amazing already.

Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face is always a great idea. National Security absolutely should not depend on the whims of petty ideologues either.

All Musks satellite links need to be shutdown everywhere. He should not have all this power & control 🤨

Sounds like they’re for military and enterprise only and they need Musk to get them into orbit. Not exactly replacing anything.

Strength in numbers
Delta Air Lines has chosen not to go with Starlink, and Elon Musk is upset. Musk said that Delta’s CEO would “lose his job” for snubbing Starlink. Musk is both a bully and a baby. Bravo Delta.

Obviously, Mark Carney understood the potential danger of relying on Starlink, now we see proof with Ukraine disaster.

It’s not Starlink Ukraine wants as much as Starsheild. And because they’ll never get that they want Starlink’s latent speeds for drones against Starlinks usage agreements concerning military application. Not rocket science here.

Starlink wasn’t built for your government. It was built for the people. Oh wait that’s why governments hate it! I understand now.

SpaceX’s products, from StarShields to Tesla, are now nothing more than scrap and rubbish, who wants their internet to be throttled, their car not to run, or their military defence shield not to work ❓️ and all of this, on a whim, of an oligarch ‼️

Cultmtl is a rag of a publication. But strangely I’d agree, starlink is a commercial product not a national security asset. So No national security should rely on using a commercial product of a non government corporation outside of its stated use case.
